decided to have some hot buttered crumpets - butter was rock hard so put into the microwave - only needs about 8 seconds to soften - guess who forgot and the whole pack melted - as bad as a dropped raw egg - hahaha

Oooh buttered crumpets that's breakfasts sorted, but I'll be sure to turn down the heat setting before microwaving the butter

I tried the covering it with a hot glass trick-didn't work. So, I put in on a plate-after chopping it into cubes-and rested it on a pan of hit water-that worked.

Haha, I did something similar back in about 1983 at an ex g/f's mothers house. I'd never really used a microwave before

I use Countylife Spreadable now

Old technology - have you heard of a butter bell? I have one. It's a ceramic bell which uses water to insulate against the extremes of heat and cold so it's spreadable.

You'd get a better microwave for less second hand. They lasted for decades, the modern one I bought from Tesco burnt a hole in itself. I rarely used it. Not impressed with that.

prefer a block of real butter minus the oils they use to make it spreadable
