Does anyone else find a lot of people on here are so rude. They think they are sex gods and reject you in a very rude manner if you dare to message them and try to be nice. I can take rejection but it's the rudeness I can't take lol.

Unfortunately some people are rude, I understand everyone has a preference but we are all adults and some people get very personal too. Just no need.

Ignore them and move on

Also see it as a lucky escape - who wants to meet a rude person?!

In the defense of myself who gets unsolicited messages full of cock pics from some people that have not read my profile.

I am not rude but I dont want to reply and I do delete. Men do seem to think this is rude. We really do not have to reply.

Not excusing it but some get frustrated by the messages they get from users that have clearly not read their profiles and aren't what they're looking for. There are rude people in all walks of life, have been since the year dot and unfortunately will always be. Just laugh it off and be the better person.

People also do this if you are not what they are looking for and they don't want you either coming up in their searches or you don't message them again in 6 months when you have forgotten that you mailed before. If you are not what someone is looking for then there is no point being able to view eachother. Blocking is not always a personal slight!

It does get frustrating when people don't read profiles. And I always delete the typical How r u type mails. But if someone has made a genuine effort to write me a proper message I will respond politely even if just to say thank you, but no thank you. There are rude people everywhere. The post office, shops, cinema...it's just easier for people to be rude if they can hide behind a screen. Maybe it's a silver lining that they have shown you that they are rude right away, so you don't get a surprise later on

I think it is the Internet generation... before the internet you had to face the person to say rude things to them. That made insulting someone far harder than today when you can say them anonymously with no fear of comeback.

I think managing who comes up on your searches etc with filters and the block button is a good thing.

If you're not attracted to a profile then why not block it?

"I think it is the Internet generation... before the internet you had to face the person to say rude things to them. That made insulting someone far harder than today when you can say them anonymously with no fear of comeback. "

That's a good point. The internet makes it easier for rude people to show their real selves.

In a face to face setting the consequence of being rude is that person may be made to feel embarrassed by having their behaviour pointed out.

As others have said, some people are just not brought up in an environment where they're taught to respect others and afford courtesy whenever they can.

The idea that the majority of established women and couples get hundreds of messages a day, every day is a myth.

Yes, bad use of filters, new profiles or putting up new pictures all the time or lots of forum activity can generate more interest, but unless people want the attention it will calm down.

A lot of couples and women hide behind the 'too many messages' excuse. It's just not true for most.

Rude people can be found in all walks of life. I suppose this behaviour can come out more in the virtual realm behind a keyboard.

One should develop thick skin to let these situations get to you. Think of it this way...if they're rude they probably weren't for you anyway

Great suggestion - that button.

I try to reply to most but I have stopped replying to creative messages such as "hi" and "how are you" and "Nice pics" (I don't have any at the moment!) as tbh I see those as rude for not having read my profile, not even the first part.

I have tried things like "Thanks but we are looking for different things" but that often starts further communication and questions asking me what I AM LOOKING for - and if I specify this in more detail then suddenly that is "exactly" what they are looking for, too - even if they were not looking for it before...

What else should or could we do?

I have to agree. I'm far from rude but when you get a dozen messages asking the same thing or saying why when you've been polite and said no thanks whwn they would have known the answer had they read the profile and not just messaged to moan that they've had to read.... then I do become very blunt and forth right

We find that most men appreciate a courteous but firm response. The overwhelming majority respect it or thank and move on.

The small minority who persist or cannot take rejection are rude. It's easy to block those ones.

Hey don’t let it affect your enjoyment, deleting messages and blocking is fine if you have no interest in the person.

I get blocked for fabbing their pictures just in case I might be interested in them. It’s rather amusing but certainly not rude.

Being rude and abusive in a reply to a message isn’t ok though and should be reported.

In all my time on here I’ve only had one bit of rude abuse where I was called a prick and a fucking time waster because I wouldn’t let him suck my cock. As I have been on the site 8 years, I think that’s pretty good.

To offer a reason and hopefully dispel the idea that blocking is rude...

We block people we are not interested in. We don't do it to send any message to the guy we're blocking, we do it as a way of 'filing' the Fab community.

We use our 'Looked at us' list as a sort of hotlist. If people look at us, or message / wink us, we check them out and if we're not attracted we block so our lists only contain those we like the look of.

It just keeps things neat and tidy.

I understand you think it's rude, but in our case it's simply an admin thing.

Would really like a thanks but No button that does not open up the chance of further conversation.Great suggestion - that button.

It's amazing how they're suddenly into exactly the same thing as we are! That's why I don't give any information anymore.

A polite message will always get a polite reply from me.

A crude, rude, or sexually graphic message will not.

Rather than complaining about impolite replies, perhaps the content and calibre of the message that elicits such a reply should be the topic under scrutiny?

To be fair, there are 25,000 people on here at any given time, (if we are to believe Fab) So I think statistically you are always going to find rude people in a capacity like that in any walk of life.

Do you think people really care if you think that? I think it's a great filter tbh. Those that think others are up their own arse usually are issue laden.
