Airbourne, they're not underrated among those who know of them and have seen them live, but despite being easily as good as AC/DC they'll never be as big, just because they're in a different era.

Hanna Peel, the albums called Mary Casio: Journey to Cassiopeia.

Because they were from the Midlands, not London.

Same with Slade- outsold Elvis and everyone else for a while (and i think Roy Wood deserves and equal mention), some really awesome songs- yet Glam rock is often T-rex, Bowie and The Sweet

Any of the 'Goth' era bands are unfairly viewed as miserable eyeline wearers in black. Siouxsie is probably one of the most uderrated females in music- been there, done that, lead from the front but too busy to make a fuss about it. Sister of Mercy- playing round with guitars and electronic beats while others were still scratching their arse thinking about it- wrote some epic tunes (Floodlands is often on loud for a late night drive home), The Mission also wrote some spanking tunes- Tower of Strength is huge! while the rest of their back catalogue ranges from some quite humours lyrics to some great covers. The Cult- although more rock than Goth, they kind of sat across both at the right time and can give most of the top metal bands of the 80's a good musical slapping with She sells sancutary, lil' devil, rain, spirit walker, bone bag...i could go on

Exactly who I was going to say, they we're so versatile, and made stuff that could be pigeon holed in so many different genres. Not to mention Mike Patton's vocals, he is unreal.

Oh my god! There is soneone else who remembers that Neds had a female singer very early on!

I got in to TWS and poppies around 88 by which point they'd pretty much fucked off to London although you'd occasionally see them around Brum, I actually met Miles at the height of his rude amd unapproachable days (outside the old virgin megastore in brum) and he was so engaging and pleasant, the opposite to his reputation.

Neds were always about, you could pretty much guarantee if they weren't on tour one of them (usually Rat) was at the same gigs as me.

This thread is turning from underrated bands to Brummie grebo's reminiscing! Looking at the age of other posters we must have brushed shoulders at a lot of gigs!

I remember as well- if i dig round in the loft, i may well have a VHS with what i think was Neds first go at a music video, which i think she was on?

From memory, it mainly involved them dicking around in a shopping trolley, possibly on the hill down the side of The Crown pub? (halfway down the high st on the bend between the two halves)- been rather a while since i last saw it
