There are only a small minority that I trust. I follow my gut, which tends to steer me right. I've met people from 5 years ago, on here, that are still in my life today. I don't just trust from the offset though. It's something that is earned over time  . |

If none of us trusted peeps, we wouldn't in all probability ever actually meet. So of course we have to "trust". What we can and should do though is be prepared to "walk" if we do not feel things are right. |

Sometimes we are right to trust and as always sometimes not, but if you don't put some sort of trust in to start with you will never know. |

There's varying degrees of trust - and they get built over time and as others have said it comes down to gut instinct ultimately, albeit one built out of getting to know a little about people.
Some people on here I instinctively know I couldn't trust with anything - others I'm quite happy to trust enough to tell fairly personal details to or travel a fair distance to meet and know they will be there and others fall somewhere in between |
