As a couple very much in love we have no interest in using one day of the year to say what is said everyday. To us it's a commercial rip off.

Anyone else feel the same?

We don't buy into the whole commercial aspect, we do use it as an excuse to send the kids to bed early though

Yep couldn’t agree more, wehwve no intention of “celebrating” tomorrow. In fact I think we’re going to a social drink in Colchester with some of the lovely fabesters in the area.

Shock horror! You CAN be romantic all year round and STILL by your beloved a card for a couple of quid.

Unless whinging about it gives you more pleasure, in which case crack on.

Well I had nobody to buy for this year so I bought one of my best friends a valentine friend card and a box of chocolates as they were upset to not be getting anything this year as recently split with their partner, she wasn’t expecting it and was well chuffed, good deed done lol

Totally agree, much to the chagrin of most of my ex girlfriends.

If you have to be told when to be romantic, it's just not romantic at all!

Last time I entertained Valentine's I was a teen as used it as an reason to ask someone else out who I hadn't had the courage to do so before.

My ex husband didn't bother with Valentines day, my birthday or a card at Christmas. It would have been nice to have received one card from him.

I prefer to keep these days special, or every day would be the same.

Why do people think its an either or situation? You can either be living all year round or once a year. It's not, you can do both.

And why do they feel the need to belittle anyone who does like valentines day while jumping in the 'rip off' band wagon.

When I'm in a relationship very loving all year round but I do still enjoy valentines day.

Show my appreciation all year round to my partner but still get her something for Valentines Day.

It’s not a big deal.

Why do you feel you're being belittled? You're entitled to do whatever suits you.

For me, it's not about either or. I just think Valentine's day has been invented to sell cards and encourage people to consume. There's no other reason for it to exist, as far as I can see.

I don't necessarily think you need to be extravagant to show a valentines gesture. If you do something a little out of the ordinary and said person appreciates the effort then you know it is real.

In cave behind a waterfall on a hill

Maybe it's not about the cards the big gestures the for one day only.

Maybe if it's more....

It's for everyday without the fanfare trumpets marching bands and corporate greed.

Maybe it's showing some one everyday not just one day...

Don't feed the evil multinational card corporations this Valentines. Its all part of an evil plot by the big card manufactures Reptilian leaders. If we don't act now one day they'll become too powerful, take control of the government in the shadows and before we know it it'll be illegal not to by cards priced £3.25 and above for:

Valentines day,

Work acquaintance day

or

Person you bump into on the street once a month day

Punishable by death after a kangaroo court contracted out to C4, Clitons contract security and legal arm who also now run the police force and issues cute fix notice Boffle penalty card.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

I am more than capable of buying myself chocolate any other day of the year. Just because it's Valentine's day, it doesn't make it any more special

Well normally we do Valentine's but this year it's also Ash Wednesday which gives a bit of a dilemma! So we did Shrove Tuesday instead.
