You see an item in the shop for £97 pounds you don’t have the money so you borrow £50 from mum and £50 from dad . You buy the item for £97 so get £3 change you decide to give mum £1 and dad £1 you keep one yourself so you now owe mum £49 and dad £49 49+49 is £98 you kept £1 so total is £99 where is the other £1

Give mum and dad £1.50 each and stop being a cheeky bugger for keeping a quid that wasn't yours.

There is no missing £1. Everything adds up . It's the calculation in the riddle that's wrong

49+49 =98

Add the £2 that was given back to mum and dad and that's your total 100 borrowed.

You add the £1 you kept to the £97 you spent to get the £98 you owe.

There is no missing or extra £
