I was told, amongst other things that I was dishonourable because I wouldn't meet a guy that was in the forces!!!
Someone's uniform is irrelevant to me but if they consider it to be their usp that's enough to put me off anyway. |

I didn't think I had a thing for soldiers but the last guy I got silly for in 2014 was Para reg, most recently a guy I was shagging was military as well, now I'm speaking to and meeting another one and I've seen him in his uniform once cos he came straight from work and had to travel 1.5 hours to me and he did look fit. |

I fall for people, not costumes.
As for the military, each to their own, but I’m afraid I’ve learned from personal experience not to meet them.

They are trained to be able to detach from things so they're not like your average guy. It borders on a kind of arrogance but I find it attractive. |

All the soldiers I’ve known are disciplined, don’t mind taking risks and have an ‘only live once’ attitude that I find really appealing and fits my own personality. Hits every button for me. .

I tend to get on well with soldiers... they (most of them that i have met) have a very different outlook and humour that i just get.
My sons a soldier... the whole uniform thing is just dirty washing to me these days |

It doesn't turn me on or off. But when it's their only "thing" then it does put me off. I don't really like seeing the uniform used in that way in public pics and such. That's how I personally feel, anyway. I've met a soldier or two, but I didn't know it until we had a drink together and chatted - it wasn't how they tried to market themselves. |

Been there, done that - I think it doesn't hold any appeal when you've being surrounded by it.

Almost 17 and half years of washing exercise kit, tour kit really isn't all that sexy.
There's a certain smell that doesn't go away no matter how many times you wash it.

Sorry but most in groups love a ruck and your talking about trained killers so we kb squaddies just in case..I've lost count of them using the army thing like I should be scared when the other lads I work with are actually ex army too they just don't mention it |

Squaddies have an attitude on the whole. A chip on the shoulder if you like. We're all a little different though. There's nothing special about us nothing any of these other guys don't probably have..
To be honest I've got more respect for the police, fireworkers and paramedics, nurses and doctors.. even care assistants.
They do those jobs day in - day out. Nobody talks about the trauma and ptsd all those services have to go through. Under funded, under paid and under appreciated.
Don't put soldiers on a pedestal. We do hard work for six months at a time. That's only if there is a war on. Basic Training and second phase can be quite tough. But when you get to your unit it's a piece of piss.
Don't be fooled by heroics or war stories. War isn't something to be celebrated. The people who've seen real shit, tend not to brag about it.
We bring it up sometimes because it's something that never leaves us, drilled into our core and has altered our state of mind a little. It's not usually for the better either.
If you want to give these boys some special admiration.. how's about you don't vote in the people in who send them to kill nations. |

Mate.. don't lower yourself to soldier standards. I'm sure whatever you do is equally good. Also I wouldn't reccomend putting on a uniform you've not earned. It's highly frowned upon by the military and all who know them. Even in sex games, I wouldn't take a photo. Not if it's the real uniform. |

He’s right though. You earn the right to wear that uniform - it’s issued, not bought or borrowed. Civvies never wear it right anyway - you can always tell. And it’s not the actual uniform really - it’s the myth/mystique/romance behind it that gets most women. And the assumption of a good body underneath it. |

I like uniforms however I won t meet anyone in uniform. I have done and they've been the biggest lying, cheating and disrespectful men I've met 
It's now to the point it's on my profile I will not meet.

Emergencies are a tiny part of the role. Prevention is 95 percent of the job and that includes going into less than desirable houses explaining to people that they are a risk to themselves. The nhs have jumped on to our bandwagon and know we do their job also ask in questions on personal health.
If you don't know the full info maybe it's best to ask why I made the comment.

Personally I think our military should only be used as a defence force. Our politicians use them to make money and gain power over other nation or snatch their resources.
I've lost a lot friends I had from the Army, because I used to share a lot of the bad stuff on Facebook. The abuse of power, the government contracts, the brainwashing, the ptsd, the horrors of war.
Most of them don't want to hear it, they'd rather ignore all of that and simply soak up the adoration. Enjoy the hero status every Remembrance Sunday. My least favourite day of the year. Lest we forget? What an insult when you consider how many lives have been lost since, on all sides and civilians.
Someone once called me a baby killer after Iraq in 2003. I didn't have the heart to disagree with them. Indirectly - I still think i was, even though I never fired a shot in anger.
It's people like you who pointed that out to me, either online or face to face. I'm grateful to them for opening my eyes up to different opinions. Pick your battles wisely though, as people misunderstand and misinterpret what it is your trying to say. As I'm sure you're only too well aware

To be honest I've got more respect for the police, fireworkers and paramedics, nurses and doctors.. even care assistants.
They do those jobs day in - day out. Nobody talks about the trauma and ptsd all those services have to go through. Under funded, under paid and under appreciated.
Don't put soldiers on a pedestal. We do hard work for six months at a time. That's only if there is a war on. Basic Training and second phase can be quite tough. But when you get to your unit it's a piece of piss.

Fully agree, there are low points to the job but it's just a job really, we work less than 20 hours a week in the lull of war or build up training
One thing that bugs me is the perception that "a squaddie has fucked me over, they are all like that"
Yes we do have a certain mindset however it's because of the phases of training and being told from day one to be a step above
But the allure is still there but I dislike getting naughty in the uniform as it's my work clothes lol, it's the mindset that attracts fully |

Its only a job. I wore green for 23 years. Good mates but was glad when my time was up. The real heroes now for me are the underpaid nurses , the over worked doctors and the people who care for others. I will always have time for our forces but there are other uniforms i admire more. |

This made me really sad.
Not saying I disagree. The only thing I'd disagree with is the admiration. I couldn't do what soldiers or any forces people do. Same as anyone in a job that puts them in difficult situations.
To me that's forces, firefighters and doctors and nurses. To retail staff and bus drivers and cold callers.
It's a shit job at times. All in there own way
If you don't want my respect and thanks for serving that's fine but it won't stop me feeling it. |

I would say though that the hardest part of my career was spending 4 years a Tidworth. It was dire there. Luckily we had a 4 month tour of S Armagh to break up the sheer boredom. |

Agree with everything you said,war should never be celebrated and some people need to stop glamorising military life. I have a friend with PTSD who served in Afghanistan, he hates it when people talk about Army life as a big adventure.
Your right about not putting military personnel on a pedestal above everyone else. Like you said what about doctors, nurses Careworkers etc. There's lots of public sector workers who do difficult and vital jobs for crap pay and little appreciation.

I'd prefer you show your respect by voting for people who don't send our boys and girls off to die, unless it's for the right reasons.
That you DEMAND they are given the best equipment to defend one another with. I was sent to Iraq in green uniform, invaded it in a WW2 era personnel carrier tgat started to break down the second we crossed the border. The almost-tragedy I prevented started with radio equipment faults. The first deaths I witnessed was a Chinook full of our Marines and SAS fall out the sky because of engine failure. That's no way to go
One of my old friends died a few weeks ago, you may have seen it in the news. The only reason it got mentioned was because he served alongside Prince Harry! Depression and PTSD. He felt he'd been let down and given no support to cope with what he'd been asked to do by his country.
If you care, look after us. Get political. Start demanding better protection of the staff of all our emergency services. We need political reform to stop these wars from happening. Wars for riches, it's not a war on terrorism or freeing people from dictators like they paint it.
If you do that.. you'll have my never ending, loving and loyal admiration.
I know you care and I am grateful. You probably could do the job btw... like I said before.. we're nothing special.

We are both ex military and I am ex blue light whereas the good lady is still in the nursing profession so after a combined 76 years in uniform we don't get the attraction to what is essentially 'kit or ppe'..
Personally I think its lacking in respect when anyone bigs up that they are in whatever service but can see that when some women and men see some uniforms as sexually exciting then there will always be those who want to exploit that..

The uniform does nothing for me. It just reminds me that there are men and women sitting up in their posh, expensive buildings deciding that they would rather others die and suffer just because they choose not to get along.
If you've chosen to join the forces then good for you, but your uniform doesn't turn me on so leave it behind and just bring yourself, it's you that is important, not your job choice. |

A friend of mine served. It was all he thought he could do so he went out as a mercenary. Happy smiley pics of him and his mates getting shot at. Half of them dead not long after.
An ex of mine had to sleep with a clothes label in his hand. It felt like a gun strap and comforted him.

I certainly don't think a uniform makes a man or women perform any better (ex wraf) maybe it's more about the attire, used to get lots of interest if a guy knew I was in the RAF but I hated wearing a uniform and put me off suspenders as we had to wear them until we got smart and Pretty Polly came along - Thank god for lacy hold ups, which is my current uniform
