I am rubbish at romance and really struggle with valentines day (yes I know all you cool kids.... It's a hallmark holiday, its bull shit, no self respecting trendy would be seen dead with a heart shaped card!)
Been seeing someone for a few months now and he majorly over gifted at Christmas so I am a bit concerned (and excited) what Wednesday will bring.
So far I've bought him star wars boxers.... There's a limit to how much novelty star wars crap I can buy him isn't there?! |

We don’t bother with Valentine’s Day any more than a meal out.
Holidays, birthdays, anniversary’s etc kind of got out of hand with us so as we live together now we’ve set a limit of no gifts more than £500 otherwise we’re just buying bullshit neither of us need all the time.
It’s kind of arbitrary when we have what we want anyway, why should somebody dictate a day that we have to buy each other things to prove we love each other. |

All very well to not buy into it when you've been together a while but this is the first one here. Or have you always been like this? |

Did an early valentine's for my new bf, as he's away on Wednesday and you can't miss your first valentine's, right?
Bought him a card, fave chocs, a little cuddly leopard, and pjs with "the boss" on.
Bought new red lingerie, scattered rose petals from the front door to the bedroom and all over the bed.
Laid down in a sexy pose and waited for him to arrive.
I woke up to several missed calls and texts, having slept through 20 minutes of him waiting at the door, in the cold, and finally giving up and going home thinking I'd forgotten I'd invited him over and that I'd gone out instead.
Fortunately he saw the funny side, forgave me, came back, and was very appreciative of my efforts.
A memorable first valentine's, for sure. |

I like valentines day especially at the start of a new relationship, I can understand it getting a bit "meh" after a few years though. I like to make something every year to show a bit of effort and creativity plus it means they get something unique and more personal, one year I made a kinda scrapbook / photo album using only card, stickers and a ribbon to hold the pages together, inside was the story of how we met and our first couple of dates together illustrated by shitty stick men figures and I left a couple blank spaces for her to add photos later, it was so ridiculously bad and kinda falling apart but thats what made it good I think, combined with her favorite alcohol and sweets, a hot bath ready and waiting for her getting home and a home cooked roast dinner I think I did pretty good that year awwww |

"Seriously guys..... I need help! So far he's got star wars pants and fishing socks! "
Remember it's the thought and the personal significance that makes a gift special; I was just going to get J some chocs and Tammi-in-lingerie, haha, but I spotted the pjs on a rack as I headed for the checkout, and with "The Boss" printed on them it just seemed like destiny. His ringtone on my phone says "your boss is calling you"; his profile on my Netflix is "The Boss"; you get the picture, I'm sure!
At the end of the day they're just pyjamas. Nothing glamorous or glitzy, specially for our first valentines together, but I couldn't have found anything more perfect if I'd tried.
I guess that as long as the star wars pants don't have jar-jar binks on them, if he's a star wars fan he'll love them and they'll be special - because you got them for him. |

We are both romantic.. not just on 14th Feb though.. it's important to keep the love/romance alive.
We never go to work without a hug, kiss and "I love you" |

We've never acknowledged Valentine's day, we're a bit nonconformist to be honest every day is equally special for us We don't do Christmas on Christmas day either. We will NOT be told when to do things |
