Why is that any of the high street places like Costa or Starbucks are crap at making tea...

I thought they just put water and a tea bag in and you help yourself to milk and sugar and made your own x

Because they are coffee shops.... can't beat a cuppa tea in a good old cafe.

Ohhhh this is a big annoyance of mine too! I love my tea & have to resort to a Hot Choc when out & about somewhere.
