What makes everything better?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I have had a tough week at work this week. Quite stressful.

But tonight I have been to visit my friend and her new baby in hospital.

One hour of baby snuggles has melted all that stress away. It's as if it never happened.

What makes everything better for you?

Ads, he makes everything ok for me, he knows how to make me calmer etc, he doesn’t even need to say anything sometimes. His smile makes everything better.

Or spot videos if I’m really in a deep mood!

Going to bed knowing I don't have to get up early or look after children the next day.

It doesn't matter if I don't get much sleep.

Scream therapy, preferably done while driving my car so I don't freak anyone out (I don't do it at other drivers!). Sounds odd but really let's off steam.

Exercise (not running, I hate running ).

I go out on my paddle board of I can or go for a swim if the weather's rubbish. Having to concentrate of the balance or on coordinating the arm and leg movements wash away everything else.

My sister.

She lives in Italy and we speak most days. If either of us has had a bad day and we start the conversation with a sigh, followed by "is it me?" the instant, emphatic "NO!!!" has us in fits of giggles and just makes everything better!

During the conversation we may change our mind, but for us, knowing there is one person who instinctively has your back makes everything okay.

We have families of our own but our love is something else, even our families know it's us, them and everyone else.

When our son is having a meltdown (he has autism) he has what he calls a "safe hug" he comes over with his arms tucked into his chest and we wrap our arms round him. Works wonders every time.

Some really different solutions here. It's amazing how many are based on physical exercise. It must be the endomorphine release that helps. (Or however it's spelt)

After a shitty start to the year i changed my entire life. Well almost. Before I used to rely on other people to flatter me and make it all better.

Now. I got me. My bathtub, My gym membership, my crazy daughter, my Patterdales and my close friends. Anyone of those and I’m all good. The onus is on me to make me feel better and I feel 100% saner for it.
