Ive had a tough couple of days due to various different reasons and my mind is in overdrive. A bit of peace for a few hours would be great.
What do you do to help calm the mind and get a break from reality for a few hours? |

If you go on youtube there are some great meditation things on there. I use them all the time as my job gets stressful!! Some of them talk to you and get you to think of stuff |

Hypnotherapy, EFT, Meditation and binaural beats are a few of the things I use. If you want pointing the right direction, let me know. |

Qi Gong is great for relaxing the mind without having to try and empty it
I tend to turn on a great playlist , play it loudly and either dance about like an idiot or clean. I can't do quiet or my mind goes into overdrive!! |

When my MH starts getting the better of me I’ve got a Spotify playlist of maybe 30 songs I know real well, headphones in, I pick one and then pick an instrument or riff and just focus on that one piece throughout the whole song. Helps me focus through the din of everything and concentrate on what I need to |

Emotional Freedom Techniques. Like acupuncture but without any needles. We tap on meridian points on the face hands and body. |

I colour a lot, it's the only thing that I've found that rids any stress, depression and anxiety for me.
And I get to create pretty things while taking care of my mental health. |

Went through a phase of colouring all the time. Must try if again. I have a number of books at home |

Definitely try again. Just don't ask me for book/pen/pencil suggestions. Apparently I'm an enabler. |

I don't do the calming and relaxing methods that I used to anymore.
For months, actually probably more than a year now I've been steamrolling through my days and not properly unwinding. I am going to make myself start as of tonight!
Ten minutes meditation is gonna happen in a mo.
Thank you OP. This has made me make a positive step to get back in to it! |

I have had hypnotism partly because I was fascinated by it and partly because I needed help.
He also undertook some NLP with me and between the two techniques it chilled me brilliantly. To this day I have an “Anchor” which I can use to chill and remove negative thoughts. |

I was a sceptic but it worked for me and I can still do the relaxation techniques now. Great for dropping off and letting the stress of the day away. |

Shame you are miles away from my therapist. He works wonders.
It’s worth a google for someone nearby to you. Do research though. R.eddit also have a forum dedicated to it. |

What did you used to do?"
Meditation (focus on breathing properly) was the method I used the most. I've slipped in to the bad habit of shallow breaths, not fully inhaling or exhaling as I get more stressed or tired again.
At least I am aware of it though.
I also sometimes did stretches to loosen up beforehand too.
A half hour a day shouldn't be too much to give yourself, but somehow I let myself slip out of the habit. |

Use breathing techniques from yoga called pranayama. There are lots of variations.
Use a biofeedback machine to teach you how to relax.
Learn progressive relaxation techniques.

Read a good book. You get to sit and do nothing so relax the body but your mind has no time to wander to stresses if you're engrossed in a story instead. I've just spent a few days reading and let all the stress pass me by. Xx |

Habits like that are easily lost if you miss a few days. Maybe something to try generally |

Go to bed really early and try and get ten hours plus sleep. It's amazing how easily you slip into not getting anywhere near enough sleep (says he staring at his phone rather than going to bed!) |

"The beach with my dogs and watching the moonlight on the waves. On a good night you can even see the stars...or occasionally the Aurora."
Thought about the beach earlier actually, space and time, maybe take a book/colouring/ with me as suggested earlier |

I have medication for it, but I also give myself a bit of a talking to and do my deep breathing exercises. If there's a lot going around my mind at night, stopping me from sleeping, I distract myself by thinking about how I'm going to decorate my bedroom, or do in the garden. |

That's why i have to read smallish books now. Everyone has to fend for themselves when I'm in a book. |

Usually i can distract myself, with other thoughts or mindlessly watching tv. Not the past few nights though |

Laughter
Solitude and reflection x"
Sleep is much needed if i can switch off, maybe a drink would help (although it vould go one of 2 ways with that). Plenty f thinking and reflection going on, maybe overthinking moreso |
