Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

8th February is World Scotch Day. This long-established day (this is the second one) celebrates Scotch Whisky.

What's your favourite and will you offer me a glass?

I have quite a collection of single malts. Hard to say which is a favourite. Possibly Aberlour 18. You may have a snifter.

Thank you. Is that a wee dram of each in your collection or just the Aberlour 18?

I have a lovely Macallan 15 but you might prefer the Dalwhinnie 15 or the Glenfiddich 15. You can try the Bramble Whisky while you are at it too. Just let me know what night you are coming over.

I am. Consider yourself invited. You won't be legless if we take our time and just savour them. C'mon, it'll be fun.

Edradour Fairy Flag and no as I can't justify buying it so I only have Glenmorangie and Aberlour at the moment. Either of those I'd happily share.

Not a fan myself but love taking my grandad whisky shopping.

No idea on names but the best bottles have been a 27 year old on and a 25 year old.

We have a joke between us that every 5 years he gets an increasingly more expensive bottle

He’ll be 85 soon and my brother and I said we’d splash out £500 on a bottle then £1k when he hits 90.

He said I’ll make sure I live till I’m 110 in that case! He doesn’t live locally to us and he’s the last grandparent we have left, so taking him whisky shopping when we go up is something quite special to us.

That's lovely. Fortnum and Mason have little bottles of rare and unusual whiskies but I can never bring myself to spend so much for something that looks so little.

We went up just before Christmas and took him, sent him into the shop telling him get whatever you want....then instantly regretted it realising there’s bottles worth thousands in there! some of the stories that go with the rare ones are interesting.

He picked an 12yr old Pultney and a 15yr glen scotia in the end.

Both lost on me as I hate the stuff

If you can try the new JW Blue Ghost and Rare. Made from six malts from distilleries that have closed down. Amazing scotch!

Every day whisky .. Monkey Shoulder is superb. Three set malts that don't change. Worth a try!
