Not for the first time, I’ve crafted a long message, asked some questions about the person, sent face pics and - got a message back!
“Wow!” I hear all men cry in shock.
The puzzling thing is, the reply to my message was simply “Hi”. This could make for a very long and drawn out conversation.
I wonder how this will pan out... |

Ah the old one or two word convos! I’ve had a few of those, they contact me first with ‘Hi’.
It tends to go
‘Hi’
‘Hello’
‘How’s you?’
‘Good thanks, day is a bit boring but it’s almost over! How about you, had a good day?’ (here I’ll try and at least start a meaningful conversation)
‘Yeah, good’
At this point I usually give up. What’s the point!? Why the hell did they message me in the first place!?! |

I have to admit I'm guilty of this sometimes. Not if I've been asked questions though.
I find it hard to know what to write to a "hey I loved your profile, it would be great to chat" type message. I just say hi as a sign id like to chat too. |

I think that’s fair enough if you’ve received a brief message; it acts as an acknowledgement of receipt and passing the baton back to the initiator of the message. But in this instance, I don’t really have a lot to add without further info to gauge compatibility, etc. (Their profile is equally brief).
Anyway, I won’t lose any sleep over it if nothing develops from this one exchange. We’ll see what happens.
