I originally joined fab about 8 years ago.
Back then a guy could send a message and usually get a response one way or the other or at least converse
It was rare that I would stumble across bad attitude and rudeness
So fast forward to 2018
What happened ? |

Too many men, not enough women.
Shit messages.
To much abuse returned after replying.

Thousands more men joined and bombarded women and couples with messages. The women and couples couldn't cope and decided the easiest thing to do was ignore those they weren't interested in and only reply to those they were.
Some women and couples decided to block all men and search for themselves. |

When I joined in 2010 the hoops were there, I just avoided jumping though them.
I’d have much less difficulty meeting now if I wanted to meet than I did then. But I’ve learnt some good survival skills over the years  |

Society happened.
A generation that has been brought up always getting what they want, never told no, not allowed to be disciplined, school sports days where they all cross the line together hand in hand and there are no losers.
Then suddenly put them in a situation where suddenly they can’t have what they want on a plate and they’re actually told no for once and they simply can’t compute what to do next!

There is absolutely no excuse for rudeness and I wouldn't block someone for saying good morning. I have been on here a few years now and I don't really think it's changed that much.
I would love to display some of the messages I receive to give guys an idea why we get trigger happy with the delete button.
Five this morning:
"I wanna fuck all your holes"
"My dick belongs at the back of your throat"
"I would fucking ruin you"
"Can I fuck you'
"Do you like black cock"
Okay, they don't offend me, I'm used to it but would you say they deserve a response?
I can receive 50 of these a day!
I agree people should not be rude but can understand at times why some people can react badly to persistent pests.

I actually had one last night, that made me feel extremely shitty. I haven't had one that bad for a while, thankfully. I did end up replying. To the point that I shamed him into apologising. Some really do need to take stock of what they say and use a filter when messaging... All genders.. |

Interesting reading through this thread.....
The block thing to start with. If you take a peek at someone and realisè they're likely to never float your boat... you may as well block 'em right?
Age/Society..... yes people got older, but in general its because single men outweigh the number of ladies/couple I would think....
Approach..... it has taken me a while to gain traction on here to talk to the people that I would like to. This is because I didn't particularly know what I was doing when i rocked up... you know, etiquette, what pics to show and likely nerves!
What works for me now.....is actually just being the gentlemanly chap I am, chatting and getting comfortable with someone...and only doing that with people where I feel there is some synergies in the profile.... whats the point otherwise? |

I also think that many of us who have been using the online scene for a number of years are feeling pretty jaded by it. Our initial enthusiasm may have waned and with the influx of a more ‘entitled’ demographic, it has meant the levels of frustration all round seem to have grown. |

The block thing to start with. If you take a peek at someone and realisè they're likely to never float your boat... you may as well block 'em right?
Age/Society..... yes people got older, but in general its because single men outweigh the number of ladies/couple I would think....
Approach..... it has taken me a while to gain traction on here to talk to the people that I would like to. This is because I didn't particularly know what I was doing when i rocked up... you know, etiquette, what pics to show and likely nerves!
What works for me now.....is actually just being the gentlemanly chap I am, chatting and getting comfortable with someone...and only doing that with people where I feel there is some synergies in the profile.... whats the point otherwise? "

Or a defensive reaction to misogynism, phallocentrism, and self-entitled men??
Many women on this site use simply the block function as a filter to stop anyone they are not actively interested in from messaging them. I use my filters and save blocking for people that hassle me, or people that I find totally obnoxious! |

There's a big difference in the way some speak to women and couples on here. I've had the same guy being really vulgar and abusive on my single only to be really polite on my couples as he knows it might be one of the boys online and reading. Incidentally this also includes couples who behave in this way, it's not just single guys. |
