Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I am amused at the response of the FA, who are considering an appeal.

The same FA who banned Rooney for swearing last season.

Karma's a bitch...

A good job on the 3 game ban as his actions were a disgrace. Lots of kids seeing that will think its acceptable behaviour on the pitch.

I dont doubt Shreks abilities. But there are plenty of other strikers who would happily pull on an england shirt.

A lot of people fear leaving him behind will hurt the England aquad but lets face it none of them bothered to travel to the last world cup lol.

Looking at all this furore from an outsider's point of view, that is, someone who can't stand the game, why is that everyone appears to view this guy as the "Messiah", "the one", etc etc, who can save the game!

I thought Football was a "team" game, so it should be 11 people pulling together to achieve the end result, not one person.

Forget this being a sport, but instead put it in a business context. He'd have been on anger management courses by now and if they'd have failed to curb his behaviour, then he'd have been sacked! One person within a team doesn't make all the success; it's everyone.

But because it is the great "God" we are talking about here, that is, Football, he gets all the hype, everyone is defending him, etc etc.

He can't control his temper and spits his dummy out in a rage when he doesn't get his own boorish way. He isn't professional, he's not a sportsman, nor does he act like one, but instead is a thug.

But, as the footie fans will now rise up and castigate me for daring to say this, the biggest fools are the fans, followers, TV pundits etc., who iodlise him.

Do everyone a favour and get rid of him.... maybe he might learn a thing or two!

I believe you may be correct, I think leaving him out of Englands plans for next years tourniment would be a good thing. Rooney is at the moment a wonderful footballer but as a human being...oh dear...

I do think that England will stand a better chance of winning the Euros if he is left behind, and maybe just maybe he will learn a valuable lesson.

no we would not but he would not have preformed so poorly by getting a three match ban.

Just cos I am in Scotland does not mean that I cant have a valid veiw on Rooney.

I do believe that it is the managers fault that Rooney is banned as he should never have been played in that game. Which is a game that England should have won with comfort.

You actually expect England to do anything in the Euro's? They struggle through a group of pub teams, & you expect anything but defeat against the likes of Germany,Holland,Italy & Spain? You need to reduce your medication.

You're known to dislike football immensely and always have nothing but negative comments to make about the game and it's players - often based upon a limited knowledge of the game.

If you can't stand the game why do you concern yourself so with it?

Capello is guaranteed to take Rooney because he's our best player. He's a footballing genius with a character flaw, he's not the first or the last. As a red at club level I would only consider swopping him for Messi who simply is the best I've ever seen. At international level we don't have another approaching his ability (although Cleverley is gonna be special).

As for Barry and Parker, in fairness on current form and taking injuries into account they're probably the best English two in the position.

Thought about leaving out Italy, but in a competitive knock-out tie, I would back Italy anytime vs England. I wouldn't fancy our chances against Sweden, or even France. The problem is that England must beat at least 2, possibly 3 good teams, to win. Teams with more heart, desire & discipline than us. The 'Golden Generation' achieved less than nothing. What hope have this bunch?

dont know about fact but not too far off the mark, rooney is a good player but if you look at his record at major tournaments 2004 apart he has been useless, i would take him and bring him on from the bench if needed, but i wouldn't start him at all if england get through the group stages, as for this passion crap that people keep coming out with, stop making excuses for bad behaviour, you dont need to kick players, swear into cameras, or slag off your own fans to show passion, its just bad behaviour and lack of discipline thats all.

Rooney is a fool and has let the side down completely. Its pretty obvious his fathers crooked behaviour got to him and he has no control over his actions.

A 3 match ban should rule England out of taking him as he is bad for the team and its a team game not an individuals contest.

Joe Hart, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Jack Wiltshire, Tom Cleverley, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck....... Capello needs to be bold like France under Laurant Blanc and Germany.

It's time to go with the youth who have no baggage, excite the nation and look further than just the Euros.

Germany were not one of the favorites going into the last World cup with a new young team, but they are now one of the favorites going into the Euros. France won't be a favorite for the Euros, but I bet they will be when the next World Cup comes round.

That's the team he *should* pick but will he have the bottle to take on the English press and pick them. I rate Rooney very highly but the fact that he's going to miss the group stages means he shouldn't go at all. We need a team to get us through the group and if that team does it, it would be unfair to sacrifice one of them for Rooney. Maybe a missed tournament will make him wake up and realise that his petulance comes with a price.

Only if I become his agent and get around the negotiating table with the FA, because they never seem to be able to say NO to a Managers ludicrous demands!

If fact we'll squeeze into his contract that the striker will have to be a swinger, at least then there's bound to be some scoring done!

Newcastle and Gateshead

call for _abio and he will arrive....

there is absolutely no way england can appeal the 3 match ban, because in the premier league a straight red for violent conduct gets you.... a 3 match ban!!!

would I take him to the euro's.... thats tougher!! remember 22 man squads and you are not allowed to replace during the tournament so you are in effect playing a man do if you take him...

if it had been 1 or 2 matches.. I would have said sure.. take him, because the last group game is still likely to mean something... but all 3 group games is a huge risk! I would be tempted not to take him personally....

since his new favourite formation is 4-2-3-1... the one up front doesn't tend to be rooney anyway.... so that could be crouch or bent or defoe or zamora....

if it was 4-4-2 then i would say.. don't take him, the flexibility of the 4-2-3-1 is the one thing that may well say rooney a place.....

I thought old Wazza wasn't keen on these tournaments anyway.

Look at his charming response to England's long-suffering supporters who had forked out thousands to follow them to the World Cup in South Africa.

He's probably having his head re-thatched while England are limping out in the group stages as usual.

Personaly I wouldn't call him a muppet ( although he does remind me a bit of one of them) as I don't know enough about him to warrant it, but he seems to be a good player with a temper that needs controlling at times.
