Talking about gender is similar to racism. You group together idle lazy stereotypes and project them across a whole gender. I’d employ the right candidate for a job. Gender is irrelevant as is race, religion etc |

I have been in employment for 37 years and never worked in a job where women are paid less than men, doing the same job. In fact quite the opposite. Women got clothing allowances that men didn't get, paid less contributions to get an equivalent pension, and maternity benefits that men don't get. These gaps exist, but they are in niche occupations in the private sector. |

Very few women work in same job as me but the ones who do are on the same wage
The thing I've never really understood is why the ones who go on strike etc to get equal pay didn't negotiate a better pay deal when taking the said job if they are the best person for said job then employers would be stupid not to agree to paying them the same as someone else would have got |

About 30 odd years ago when personal pensions were a very new thing a company I worked for introduced one for staff. The incredibly patronising male rep explained to the women that we were lucky because although our pension would be less because we were women our payments would be too  . However I've never worked anywhere that women have earned less than men for doing the same job.
I've been told at interview that "you wouldn't be suitable because you wouldn't want to get your nice clothes dirty". Been asked at interview if I planned to have children (years ago obvs). But have always received the same pay and benefits as my colleagues of other genders with the one exception. |
