Why not get involved in the discussion OP? It helps to be included when you contribute. That's all it is really. The more you post, the more you familiar you are and are likely to get responses to comments you make. I will add however, that everyone on the forums gets overlooked at times. It doesn't mean you are purposefully being ignored.

The way I choose to look at it - if you look at the forums as cliquey you'll forever see them that way - if you choose to use them for you and just go about them posting where you see fit and not worrying about things such as cliques there's a lot to be had out of them.

There'll always be regular and frequent posters who all seem to bounce off one another, but if you can look beyond that they can actually be a fun and informative place and a great way to get to know people - yeah they're frustrating as fuck at times too but that's the nature of internet forums

It is definitely cliquey but that's probably because people have been here a long time and got to know each other quite well so they jump to defend each other when someone new tries to interject.

That's definitely not a good thing but it would be the exact same in real life situation.

Best thing to do is write and post what you like. People will agree, people will disagree, maybe even disapprove but over time they will get over it and if they don't who cares. Just do your thing

Why do some people think because a man puts a list up of people he thinks are in a clique, that it must be true that there is a clique?"

Conversely why do some people think because some people say there isn’t a clique, that it must be true that there isn’t one? (For what it’s worth I think there are multiple cliques, this isn’t unusual as cliques exist in all walks of life and most of the online forums I’ve seen)

I think it often coincides with big socials where a whole bunch of the forum meet each other and it can feel a little exclusive if you weren’t there. I don't think they're meant to be cliquey, it's just sometimes people are drawn to a certain thread, because they may have the same sense of humour and have become 'cyber' friends. Most people will welcome you into a thread, but just go on the ones that interest or amuse you and have fun!

Its not really cliquey more its dependant on what the threads are about and how they resonate with how whoever feels about it. I post tonnes of shit lol..some get zero replies, other ones hit the response limit. You'll get some folk bantering in-between the threads but thats just what friends do isnt it ?

I think there are some people on the forum who have gone out of their way to be inclusive but the efforts are often thwarted by some of the natural tendencies of unstructured groups of people. People end up fulfilling the archetypal roles and little groups and factions form around predictable behaviours.
