So why do some OPs give posters abuse and rudeness for no reason? Is it because they feel safe behind a keyboard or they are they actually like this in real life? Interested in reading your thoughts.

Mainly keyboard warriors and people that get off on trying to wind people up or upset them for some reason they think it’s funny

Because people know they can troll you into saying something that can get you banned.

Even though trolling is against the rules, the people trolling will never get banned if they elicit a rule breaking post out of you.

It often works the other way around to be fair, an OP (usually a single male) getting pelters from everyone else!

Wouldn’t this place be so much nicer if everyone just played nicely with one another!?

It's very easy for an innocent post to be misconstrued as things could sound different when typed rather than spoken.

Gangsters everywhere

I think most of us who regularly contribute to the forums know most of those who are reliably good fun and natured. The minute a thread comes up that looks a bit dodgy I’ll always have a look because nine times out of ten the op is looking for a reaction

Quite often it's the posters' way of commenting that determines how the thread goes. Some people have to be sarcastic or acidic in their responses and turns a thread toxic.

I've noticed it's single men who aren't regular posters who get the worse responses.

It would be nice to have an ideal world where people are polite to one another don't see skin colour or where they were born as negative things and we all understood eachother

Unfortunately it will never happen but we can try our best ourselves and just try to let negative comments go in one ear and out the other

Having been a member of countless foums over the years ranging from photography through D&D to BDSM (and a whole selection in between) I’ve noticed they tend to follow a common theme. Someone posts, if that post ellicits positive responses innevitably someone will post a negative comment. They seem to do so in order to garner more posts in their favour (I’m guessing it’s some kind of ego boost for them). But also innevitably, the negative comment poster either then sits back to bask in all the support they are getting or slinks away silently if they’ve failed.

Had these guys gone too far online on another site?

Yes they had apparently

Can you ask your friend why she was meeting guys in bars who had gone too far online?

We've already had that discussion.

Enough said "

"I think due to it being online some people go to far who wouldn’t normally if they met you in the street.

It does make me wonder if they do behave like this in real life though. A friend just raised an interesting point via pm saying that per these are the same type of people who are rude to shop assistants, bar staff etc.

This does prove that people say the craziest things on keyboards!

I think she has a valid point actually.

Can she provide one example of this?

Yes she said she'd been out on dates with a couple of guys from another site they were rude to bar staff.

ps. Is the parable of this story; rude and abusive posters can get dates?

Seriously yes it's coz they feel safe, 100z of miles away etc..

Some feel strongly about/entrenched what they post about and freak out a bit if challenged, I'm a cool cat an rarely get annoyed when others post. , usualy because they're just as powerless as me to change anything in the world...

Interested in reading your thoughts. quite often its the opposite way round eg the lady from a couple who asked why they weren't having any success think it was Sunday they posted and they got accused of being fake because their were no pics of guy on the profile they deleted profile In the end but I know for a fact they were a genuine couple ,some posts were quite critical you didn't answer this one can I ask why ?

They weren't accused of being fake, some were suspicious about the circumstances of the thread."

it was said the guys pics didn't feature because he was not in the same league as his partner or didn't exist ,they were asking for advice on improving their chances for meeting a woman ok a difficult meet to achieve but advice was being asked for

The OP of other thread this is a spin off to might have a point

Not a spin off but I have seen a lot of this on the forums of late and genuinely interested to find out why. Cool. Just an observation must be coincidence. Yes my idea would be why not have a couple of forums that are for solely as I'd say the life's a bowl of cherries brigade and a few that allow debate n people to discuss things as long as not go to far.. I'm not sure why the forums are meant to be friendly? It's a forum where people can be whatever they like surely as long as they aren't abusing anyone. I quite like the arguments that spring up in random threads, its more entertaining than people being nice to each other anyway

December and January were rough months. Pre and post Christmas blues and a lot of tension about, probably due to everyone doing family stuff instead of dropping their knickers everywhere.

There are some threads where the op can post something that has been done to death. Other posts go hostile quickly if the OP doesn't like the responses.

It is good to see a thread tickle along nicely, but it seems to be the fab way that as soon as someone goes hostile, it is time to release the hounds

2. Most of the people on forums take themselves far too seriously.

3. Nobody ever said forums are supposed to be friendly.

I’ve noticed that. If at the beginning someone is angsty or critical it can dictate that the whole thread might continue in that vein.
