'They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance'.
Major-General John Sedgwick

Not quite his famous last words but inspirational enough to suggest that you should never underestimate your enemy. |

Be more concerned with your charecter than your reputation.... because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are

We have a canvas with John Lennon's famous quote “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” |

Einstein had some crackers:
"The definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results"
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid."
"If you cannot explain something simply, you do not understand it well enough."

Churchill had some great ones:
Lady Astor to Winston Churchill - Sir, if you were my husband I would poison you
Churchill - Madam, if I were your husband I would drink it!
Lady Astor to Churchill - Sir you are d*unk!
Churchill - Madam, you are ugly, but I will be sober in the morning |

Morituri te salutamus. For the non latin speakers; 'those who are about to die, salute you'
Said before gladiator games in ancient Roman times. Reminds me every day that although there's no physical sword and shield the world has not changed much from this concept and you must be fearless to survive. |

To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.
Buddha

Learning lessons is a little like reaching maturity. You're not suddenly more happy, wealthy, or powerful, but you understand the world around you better, and you're at peace with yourself. Learning life's lessons is not about making your life perfect, but about seeing life as it was meant to be.
