You’re an adult, you really should know better!

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

A thread for those eye-rolling moments when you see adults doing things that you think - WTF!?

For example: Instagram filters so it looks like you have bunny rabbit ears and whiskers!? JUST NO!!!

Grown adults wearing novelty daffodil hats when going to watch the rugby!? ARGGH!

What other things should we just leave to kids or bin altogether!?

(n.b. Hey, it’s just meant to be a fun thread, of course people are free to do what they want if they enjoy it! I know that!)

I’ll throw this out there.

An adult having a children’s approach to fun and being silly I think that’s the best thing ever.

Worst for me are adults who have lost the sense of how to be totally stupid.

I think we lose our sense of self when we take life too seriously.

I agree, the main difference between an adult and a child when it comes to having fun, is that we can have more expensive fun... and naked too.

For me its when I hear women refer to themselves as a "princess" like when they are about to get married for example, seriously you are a fully grown 30 something year old woman, this is what parents call their infant daughters when their still little toddlers

A keen imagination, pushing boundaries and being naughty. All essential for swinging. All ‘childish’ traits.

But better out than in. That’s just horrid and bad manners learnt with age.

My boys said to me the other week ‘can you just be sensible please? Can we you just act like grown ups’ or something along those lines.... ok then boys when your here for the weekend and trying to do your own stupid experiments and not having a bedtime (well they do but not as early as when they are at home with their dad) you can stop all that and be in bed by 9 every night...yeah didn’t like that!

We’re not THAT immature as parents, we just don’t act like most parents!

I don't have any kids of my own, but have been in relationships with ladies who have grandchildren. Part of the fun of babysitting is that you can bring out the inner child within yourself without remorse

My kids grandparents are as serious as they come (their step grandparents...not so much lol) when my son was run over late last year and I rushed to the hospital one of the first things I said to him was (I think it might have been a nerves thing and not to show him I was scared for him) ‘if you wanted to see me you didn’t have to jump in front of a car’ WELL his nan gave me the filthiest look (and not in a good way!) and said ‘I don’t think he jumped in front of it’ my eyes rolled...he saw the funny side in it so that was the main thing.

Totally agree!

I went to a huge adults/kids soft play centre (think total wipeout rather than ball pools) and, as usual, was the oldest taking part by at least 20 years!

Thought I was really cool until I got hit in the face by a giant plastic ball on a chain! Ouch!!!

For my own sake I should probably try to grow up a bit!

Adults should leave behaving like children to the children. Likewise wearing baseball caps backwards.

I thoroughly dislike the phrase growing old is madatory, growing up is optional. It isn't, grow up already!

I would expand that to anyone over the age of 12 caught wearing replica football shirts when on holiday abroad should have their passport confiscated.

Enforce that one in Benidorm and you would need a truck for the passports.

agreed, and there’s no suggestion to the contrary, indeed as per my opening post, the thread is just intended to be a bit of lighthearted fun not to be taken *too* seriously!

I’m finding it slightly ironic that the people taking the thread just a little too earnestly are the very people saying it’s ok to be childish at times, and like I said somewhere back there ^^, surely part of having a sense of childish fun is retaining the ability to laugh at ourselves and what we do!

Anyway, who fancies a middle-aged skateboard through Hyde Park with me? Anyone?
