Well done everyone so far, look how far you've all come in this short space of time
Im undecided if to go out today, hoping the heat of a hwb will take the edge off my ankle. If it does i may go out for a short walk (providing it doesnt heavily rain). |

"I had a disastrous run yesterday and barely managed 2k, I just couldn’t get motivated so I’m going to try again tonight.
"
I think mental state is quite a significant part of this, perhaps because I’m crap and find it difficult.
Do you need any motivational work from our crack team? We’re here to support you all the way |

No idea why it was so hard yesterday, I could have cried with frustration. I’m advertising for another fitness buddy, the one that was helping can’t do it anymore and I found our once a week runs were an excellent motivator as there was no way I was not going to show improvement in front of him.
I’ll be back later to ask to get shouted at to go and bloody do it. |

I know exactly how you feel! Once you start the warm up you start getting motivated to do it, but before then.... Meh!
I'm due to run tomorrow, week 4 run 3, but after doing my run yesterday, my calf muscles are still very tight and I'm worried I might do myself some mischief. So I've put my sensible hat on and will either go for a walk or bike ride tomorrow |

Yep, engaging brain both for motivation and for being being sensible is really important. Good work! |

I’m running today but playing catch-up with the rest of you
I find once I start getting ready it’s almost like auto pilot but as others have said it’s making that first move towards the run that’s the hardest
It’s easier to find an excuse not to do it |

Hi I thought I needed to give it a week to allow my muscles to repair but turns out that isn't true.
Will be running next weekend. Congrats to all of you who got some in. |

"W2 R1 done
Went ok can’t say I’m enjoying it that much yet "
Well done!
I can't say I've ever looked forward to the next run, maybe one day...
Went for a bike ride today, did 10 miles, feels like that has eased my tight calf muscles so plan to run again tomorrow at silly o'clock |

Can someone turn me out of my armchair please? My motivation is all but gone. It’s freaking cold, I don’t want to do it and I don’t want to do it.
On a side note, my feet always end up numb when it’s this cold, any recommendations for thermal socks? |

OK I will come and lift you out of your chair.... Get up woman!
You can do it
I hate the feeling of warm, sweaty feet so I'm no help for your mention of thermel socks. |

How about soaking them in hot water before you run? Never tried it but might help? |

Don't worry neither can I! When I say running in my posts I mean jogging "
I mean fast waddling |

They are warm at the start and numb within 15 minutes of getting out the door. My poor heart and lungs obviously think I’m actually dying and divert blood to essential organs. |

No! Never too late. Some on the thread haven’t started or had to restart. Some have stayed at a certain point and some are held back through injury. Some (like me) are in the verge of giving up. I lie, I’m the only one that would love to give up, the rest are awesome. |

Strava can suck my hairy cock. I fucking aced it tonight and Strava, despite me doing all the things with the app that they recommend, fucked it up big time.
I'm going to have to guess my time and manually plot my route, I'll be back with the results... |

Strava uses wierd algorithms. If you have a Garmin stick to what that says as it’s more accurate! |

No money for all that, I'm running in leggings I got from a charity shop!
I've plotted it as best I can and I think it was 3.5k in around 20-23 mins with one less than 20 second stop. I think about 20% was up a long hill.
So for me, that was the longest I've run without stopping, no stopping on an incline and parts of it weren't as hard as I found previously. Fridays run wasn't worth getting sweaty for, my motivation was shit but I've restored faith in myself. |

I would say if you feel like you’ve had a good run then you’ve had a good run. Stats are all very wel and good but running should be for enjoyment. If you’re smiling at the end then you are the winner xx |

They bloody are! I run on numb feet and the post run high coincides with my feet thawing out.
There's one thing I would love to experience again and that's the feeling of the ground moving under my feet and that head space and breathing rhythm that is just so perfect. Last time that happened I was in the army and 20 years old.

It really is the cold. I have two pairs of different shoes and it's the same for both. I have done the laces up too tight before and got tingly feet! I will watch out for that though. |

That’s down to motivation and your reason for running. You have to have a reason for doing something and you have to dig deep and clinch that focus. Once your out you’re out so you may as well run! |

I've had one bad day and by nuts it was bad. That mental state is sooo important, isn't it.
My aim is Parkrun without stopping or looking like a sad old lady, in a respectable time. |

Not a fucking clue! I used run once a week with someone who can do two marathons in one day and the shame of not improving each week spurred me on. |

I work long hours, so use the gym at work.
It's been hard enough getting motivated and finding the time...
Then last week a toilet on the floor above the gym backed up, it brought the ceiling down in the gym... |

"Run 3,week 4 completed this morning didn't feel too bad! Maybe I'm getting used to this walk/jog thingey
I must be doing something wrong!
Week 4 run 3 today, before my run i felt fine, thinking that i font really hurt after any run so far, so i don my joggers and start my run, within minutes of running my legs were killing, like lead today! I recover quickly but by god it hurt
Can you slow down to an almost-walk? I think speed makes a massive difference. Don't give up though!
I'm only just picking my feet up lol its more of a jog than a run"
Mine too! |
