Here’s 20p - what’s going into your penny sweets bag?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Right Fabbers, here’s a virtual 20p and a small white paper bag.

What penny sweets are you buying?

I’m gonna chuck in some foam strawberries, cola bottles, mojo’s, fruit salads, and a packet of those sweet cigarettes that you used to be able to buy in the 1980s

What’s going into your bag?

Didn't think 1p sweets existed anyone

Old school eh

Yeah maybe they exist...just ones with red will all contain crushed dead Beetles

Noticed quite a few red and pink colour sweets...will all be cochineal.... getting that sicky feeling thinking about eating crushed beetle privates, brains, legs, shit all crushed together...to give you that lovely red colour.

Let's here it for natural colour in kids sweets... Beetles are a lovely thing compared to....I'll say no more. Clearly lots of sweet lovers here

A lot of sweets contain gelatine. Gelatine, as Wikipedia tells us, is a mixture of peptides and proteins produced by partial hydrolysis of collagen extracted from the skin, bones, and connective tissues of animals such as domesticated cattle, chicken, pigs, and fish.

Knowledge is better than living in the dark. You are what you eat. I wouldn't eat anything without knowing what's in it, but that's me, not you.

I'm sure your intelligent enough to realise you have the facts, rather than live in the dark.

You can now make your own informed decision on continuing to eat shite or not.

People should wake up a little. This stuff will kill you

"See the OP being a bit tight with the 20p. Should have a least a quid. "

ha I said way back up there ^^ that my base was 1980s prices!

Although 20p would have been a fortune to me back then - 10p was the actual standard I used to get!

Worcester

There is a sweet shop in Droitwich Spa high street that sells most of these still, mind you bring your wallet as you won’t get much for 20p.

"Didn't think 1p sweets existed anyone

Old school eh

Yeah maybe they exist...just ones with red will all contain crushed dead Beetles

Noticed quite a few red and pink colour sweets...will all be cochineal.... getting that sicky feeling thinking about eating crushed beetle privates, brains, legs, shit all crushed together...to give you that lovely red colour.

Let's here it for natural colour in kids sweets... Beetles are a lovely thing compared to....I'll say no more. Clearly lots of sweet lovers here"

Was a light hearted trip down memory lane as i read it lol.... but thanks for your input (noted )

London

Kola Cubes (How many times did I cut the roof of my mouth sucking these!)

Lemon Sherbets (Ditto!)

Mojos (3 for 1/2 a penny!)

Space Dust (I once has a dog, who just loved sticking his wet nose in the packet and then freaking out and jumping like a dog possessed - then he'd come back for more. Just nuts!)

Spangles (Cola and Orange where my favourites)

Great thread!

Some Lazers bit like a long thin Cola Cube, an ice cream cone with marshmallow & sprinkles on instead of ice-cream, and some cola-bottles that I was convinced you could tip up and "drink" or suck the brown cola bit out
