"Where ate all you people getting your fat measured? And WHY!?!?! "
When you go for a general health check up, your GP will do it and give you a slip with your height, weight and BMI. Also blood pressure and all that |

I think my GP's a cheapskate! All I've ever got is "everything is good", or words to that effect. |

"I'm genuinely intrigued as to how I would go about finding out what my percentage would be... Anyone care to enlighten me?"
There are machines that do it by sending an electrical current through you. The best way is using skin calipers on various body parts, plug the numbers in to an equation, and you get your percentage. Probably best done an a PT.

Right. So my mate that's a PT and nutritionist should have the necessary gear? I shall be asking questions over food and beers when I see him this evening.

Lacking a health care package with work (I'm self employed and my boss won't pay for it) I'll stick with tapping up my PT mate |

He might not have the electric gizmo. (Or an mri scanner!) The calipers won't tell you how much visceral fat you have, and that's the one that kills you. As you don't know its there. |

I had a iDXA (and loads more done) at Derbyshire universitys sports science department, and I officially have more lean muscle than most my friends weigh in total.
Without bones, organs, blood, gubbins etc I have 86,419 grams (86.5kg) of pure muscle tissue.
If you haven't had a trip on the nuclear scales, its worth it. I'm hoping to revisit in may/june this year for an update.
I'm also in the closer to 150% camp :P |
