Why ask a question then mock the responses with a comment doing exactly what you're accusing others of doing? |

What are you so exercised about? Me posting a controversial topic or being funny about it?

It's funny you saying that. People often laugh at what I say for the same reason, some colleagues were in fits once because I said "kick his sorry arse" |

I buck the trend there! Not the best driver - hate city centres - but on motorways - where many seem to be terrible - I’m actually really good! Hence my loved ones and I are still around - even though my insurance premiums are sky high! |

As far as I can see, almost all answers are either humourous or good natured.

I freely admit that my parking skills leave a little to be desired but because I'm aware of it I don't take chances on tiny spaces thereby avoiding potential mishaps. |

That's because the crashes are normally behind them that they have caused and they didn't even notice !
I do lot's of driving and although men can be idiots too, I reckon the women I have seen being shit drivers were just that AND they were not even applying make up at the time

Exactly my point. Women tend to be aware of any limitations in their driving and act accordingly. Most men tend to be overconfident, but don't realise they are actually shite. On the other hand, you don't see many women motorsports champions. Depends what you mean by 'better'.... |

Best compliment I ever got was that I drive like a man.
Prepare for sweeping generalisation... women drivers on the whole suck. And not in a good way!
There are indeed lots of shit drivers though... regardless of gender. You only have to watch these Road Wars or Traffic Cop shows or the dashcam one is a proper hot spot for total bell ends. |

Looking at it logically (I know this thread is no place for logic!) Women on the whole have a better ability to multi-task and tend to plan more in advance more effectively. Men on the other hand whilst often guilty of rashness are generally better at spatial awareness, estimation and last minute maneuvers when needed due to the road situation throwing curve balls at you (though I'm fully aware there will be some women and men that buck those trends)
It's therefore not entirely a case of who is a better driver as 'better' can be quantified in several ways and each majority of each sex brings different attributes with them; forgetting the sexes for one minute in terms of safe, thoughtful driving a 55 year old parent may usually be a better driver than a 28 year old rally car driver, yet if you apply 'better' to mean completing a drive in the least time and avoiding unnecessary hold ups that can frustrate and lead to incidents the rally car driver would probably come out on top.
But again generalising (as some women can actually read maps brilliantly and some men can actually type and talk at the same time ha, though I'm not one of them!) I'll come to this conclusion;
In general (and it is a generalisation) if I was desperately needing to get somewhere in a very short time frame suddenly and was for some reason incapacitated in driving myself (a big unlikelihood really), I'd usually consider it highly preferable to have a man behind the wheel. If however my 6 year old daughter was stranded somewhere (though also a big unliklihood) and was thankfully being picked up and dropped off at home by a good natured friend of the family, I'd usually feel a lot better if the driver was female. |

Don’t get me started about the lorry drivers..
for starters.. you are all limited to 60, then why do you overtake another lorry doing 60 |

no I'm not that bad. I will avoid reversing into a really tight space with a queue of drivers behind me or reverse parking if I'm not sure the space is big enough. I decided a long time ago that there's plenty in life to get stressed about parking my car doesn't need to be added to the list. |

30yrs of driving.
3 accidents
A lorry taking out the entire side of my car while sat outside my sons school - car written off.
Brand new car - Driven into side on at rear, waiting at a junction.
Being driven into same side but at front, while on my drive!
All within 3wks of each other, all male drivers, all speeding, 2 lost control of the vehicles.
I'd say I'm pretty safe driver, it's when I'm not moving you should worry!

From what I've seen both can equally as bad for different reason. If I see a car driving at stupid speeds doing erratic shit it's normally a man and if a car's struggling to get out junction or taking ages to go through a not so narrow gap, it tends to be a woman more often than not. I've also never seen a man doing his make up whilst driving, but then I've never a woman having a wank whilst driving either. Seen both sexes be painfully bad at parking though
So in summary, I have no fucking idea. |

it was a male who came out a junction on his mobile and nearly killed me and my male cousin has crashed his car more times than I can count whereas I've not been involved in any accidents or near misses..touch wood. So in my experience female is the better driver but I don't think there is any sex better than the other as there's good and bad in both |

The better drivers are the least aggressive, most attentive and least distracted."
Technically agressivse driving is necessary for pro racers and since there's no one better behind the wheel than them, it answers itself |

As a driving instructor (car) I personally think the girls are safer drivers because they generally are more cautious (at the beginning) but guys think they know it all, then make a bollocks of things when it comes to actually doing it.....
My personal observation? Some are good and some are not good.
Last known results of research by DVSA shows more males pass the (flawed) car driving test at first attempt than females but as we all know just passing the test proves bugger all! |

Another driver. So a formula one driver has caused an accident. Like I said. Debris from a driver driving into another car. |

I had to get a national express coach recently and the driver was a 3ft woman. She could barely spread her arms wide enough to her a hand on either side of the steering wheel. Terrifying experience. |

The times I've experienced aggressive behaviour from another driver it's been men. One guy followed me in to the car park at work because he was in the wrong lane on the roundabout and he couldn't get in because I was there. Another guy shouted at me because he was reading the paper in a traffic queue and nearly ran in to the back of me. I've never had women react that way. |

I'd agree with this about men. However, especially in the U.S., I come accross lots of women who bought really big SUVs, for safety they claim, and they do act pretty aggressively in them. They also seem careless in them, secure in the knowledge that they'll be safe if there's an accident. |
