As I am now living full time as a trans-female I have hit the point where I want to use a public pool.
Think I have the logistics covered with a swimsuit with built in skirt shorts ,ensuring nothing will pop up or float away. The pool changing is unisex with cubicles, so no youngsters will be witnessing my disrobing.
Just wondering as fab is such a mixed group of people what people's thoughts are on trans changing and swimming are? |

I like mixed changing facilities at swimming pools.
It is much more family friendly and easier for people who are trans. People are prejudiced and many don't understand that a trans woman (or man) is just a woman (or man). A mixed changing area means you shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable.
I hope you enjoy it OP. If you are nervous about going to begin with I would suggest talking to the swimming pool beforehand. Pick a quieter session so there are fewer people around. Pools often do adult only sessions and ladies only sessions too. |

Try a university gym pool. The ones in leicester fully support trans people and encourage trans people to use either changing or bathroom they prefer or have trans specific changing and toilets if preferred. |

"I’m a local guy to you and would be more than comfortable going for a swim as a group "
Chesterfield people have been fantastic so far , shocked me as I thought an ex alpha male pit town would be a hard nut to crack.
"Your a lady so therefore go into the ladies x"
It's unisex so that issues covered ty x |

A lot of swimming pools seem to have mixed changing areas now. I hate them, would rather have separate but that's just me.
I like swimming pools in that they usually have a range of people in them, all shapes and sizes and ages. A trans person would add to that. Some people might stop and stare but they will be the sort to point out the old hairy man or the fat young woman etc and who cares what they think anyway.
Hope you have a lovely time. |

I honestly don’t think anyone would bat an eye lid. Most people who go to pools nowadays do so to excercise and regardless of someone’s gender everyone is entitled to go and do what they like where and when they like. |

I think the Unisex cubicle approach covers off any potentially sensitive issues, but if it were an open female changing room I’m not sure how others would react. It would be fantastic to think it would be accepted, but are we ready for that?
I’d be perfectly happy with a trans man in an open changing room - pre or post op, but wonder how others would respond?

If you are changing in a cubicle, what is the issue?
If anyone is concerned about the person in the cubicle next to them,Well that is their problem not yours.
Once in the pool everyone is wearing something skimpy anyway.again, anyone with an excessive interest in your genitalia is the one with the issue. |

It's not do much about it being an issue for me. It's more wondering about what a range of people think about it (pure nosiness).
It's nice to see that people really don't care and I agree those with Len Fairclough tendencies would be the ones with issues.
Now just need to find pool proof concealer |

"I see no problem with it as long as there are no kids there."
What difference would that make?
Kids go swimming with scantily clad adults all the time.
It's all about context. |

I suppose it depends on which point you're talking about , disrobing out of a cubicle yes I can see issues being raised that people on a family day out wouldn't want to discuss with younger kids who can be inquisitive and not very subtle Swimming I don't see an issue as others have pointed out you're just there to swim. To be honest kids won't be there as it's just an adult swim.

With the nature of the general public some won't bat an eyelid, some will be jealous as they are too shy to accept what they are and some will be outraged.
As long as you are happy with what who You are, I am sure you will enjoy your time swimming. Just make sure you don't get too turned on lol |
