If it's the effect I'm thinking of what I do is section my hair into about 5 or 6 pieces (because I only have thin hair) and alternate curling under and over. I can pm you a picture if you like to see if it's the style you mean.

Use a wire coat hanger to put your mit on

It works

Hiding in the shadows

I have very curly hair, but straighten occasionally.

While wet comb through, use a frizz ease serum, then a spray leave in conditioner, then a sleek smooth spray - I use VO5 range.

Blow dry on light heat using fingers to pull straight, then section onto quarters, starting at back with straighteners.

Used to take me 2hrs when first tried can do it on 30mins now

You need a female friend to help you out on these occasions. I ran my daughter's legs for them sometimes.

You have to have a decent set of straighteners (or invest in a curling tong) and good hair products.

Try using a sea salt spray and root lifting powder before you curl the hair... both give the hair loads of texture and should hold curls in all night.

Also try and get some tongs or a curling wand, it's easier than using straighteners

Best way to do it is tie your hair up in a hight pony tail losely nd curl it as in sections using de straightener in rolling motions or curling thongs take down de pony tail flip ur hair forwards put ur fingers throughout it and flip it back nd wallahh

I second this, I find it easier to curl from a high pony too. You get the curl through the ends then, so ot looks more natural.

Curling thongs made me LOL! Like when you forget you are wearing one and squat down quickly....thats enough to make anyone's hair curl!

I can never curl my hair with straighteners! You can tell because you can see edges! I got a tapered wand which is much better. I usually use a sea salt spray, dry it or preferably just curl it the day after it's been washed. Hair spray it, leave it for a bit, brush it gently so the curls drop slightly then use a finishing product to give it a bit of shine.

My hair is fine to....its a right pain!!

My old hairdresser taught me to curl my hair without heat, when it's wet take small sections of hair and with liberal amounts of serum (I use a bed head one) twist the hair from the root to tip, repeat throughout and leave to try naturally once dry run your fingers through and you should have a head of ringlets.

Babyliss sucker upper curl thing (not it's actual name) is great if your hair isn't too long. Idiot proof and can do beachy or tight curls.

Shwartzkopf Got 2 Be is a good root lift powder, but can make your hand feel like it'll get stuck in your hair!

I used to use Toni & Guy mega hold hairspray (the strongest one they had!!) and that used to hold the style, the trouble with fine hair is it the style drops i found, but that worked wonders!

Pinterest is good for hair style inspiration too

Oh Lord I must be beyond an idiot then. I kept getting my hair stuck in it and got worried I was going to have to cut it out. I'm scared to use it now but if you get it right they're excellent.

I might give it another go. They're quite expensive to just use twice.

Thanks for your advice
