Sex Pistols kicked open the doors for a no nonsense positive DIY ethic. Whilst not haranguing their audience, did enough to inspire others enough to form bands themselves, some with commercial success!
Oh .. and they also produced 60 minutes of exciting & succinct rock Music! |

Always liked the mainstream side of punk since my formative years of getting into music - The Clash, The Pistols, The Buzzcocks, The Ruts etc - and in more recent times Green Day. Liked a lot of the New Wave stuff that came out of the original punk era too.
Saw The Pistols at one of their come back gigs in 96 and were pretty good. Green Day in Hyde Park last year though totally blew the (metaphorical) roof off - line up of SLF, The Damned, The Hives and a few more probably helped but Green Day were absolutely phenomenal - easily one of my top 5 gigs ever |

Too young to be into it first time round. Big fan of a lot of stuff from the time. Sone mainstream and sone of the lesser known bands. Pistols at finsbury park 96 the highlight for me gig wise.
Quite like some of the 80's anerican scene. Fugazi being a favourite.
More into the New wave bands that came later. |

That Finsbury Park gig was made all the better by it being the day after the England vs Spain Euro 96 game (at which Stuart Pearce put his penalty miss demons to rest) and he and Gareth Southgate came on stage to announce the Pistols....unfortunately 3 days later Mr Southgate was the provider of penalty heartache.
Was a cracking gig though |

We love SLF, already got tickets for Cardiff and Birmingham and fancy doing a European gig this year when the dates are out.
Watched the undertones in Cardiff for the first time last year and thought they were superb.
Stranglers and the ruts were very good in Belfast last year. |

Wattie jumped off the stage and twatted someone with a baseball bat in Birkenhead back in the 80’s at a gig I was at. Hard as nails and crazy mad too |

Was a gig in Leeds and they brought a bus load down from Scotland, was a pretty hostile crowd then I think they realised how outnumbered they were and just got on with enjoying the gig.Jake used to stop mid song if anyone spat at them and if he saw who did it,would point them out |

Spoke with Charlie at a gig they did last year in manchester he’s a fantastic fella. Think he’s 72 now and still performing like a teenager Would be funny to see him performing teenage now.I know the first 4 albums titles were done in alphabetical order.
I’m sure when I saw them in Cheltenham a couple years ago they announced the release of their 26th album and they were all in alphabetical order!! Could be wrong but sure that’s s what he said Hope they made some money in the early days as it must be a labour of love now.I enjoyed their gigs, was no tension at all, just sheer energy,he used to bomb around stage,I do see that they are still gigging but haven't seen anything close by. the subs was Rotherham and Donny last year For me that's 1 half/2 hour journey, probably have to be Leeds/Bradford if I was going to see them now.I still go to loads of gigs bands from the 90s and modern stuff as well.
They constantly tour they’ll be ur way sometime I’d have thought. Probably Charlie drinks the profits each night lolIll try look out for them but nearly every week I see a band I want to watch. The Damned and TheStranglers are doing Leeds soon but not that bothered,I did like Charlie and the boys tho.Well as long as he's had a good time doing it."
A guy gets in the pub Kitty manages used to tour with the Subs, playing bass |
