Why is it that whenever I have something planned ahead, something always comes along and fucks things up leaving me angry at first and then depressed all day?

Due to my Aspergers, whenever I get angry about something like this, I always end up in a state of depression that lasts throughout the day. If I'm like this at work, I feel like not bothering with work but I have no choice but to be like this at work. I'm just so fed up with it

Ask your Doc if you can get some help maybe?

We all get down days - I'm irritated after doing horses in the wind and mud, then knackered after a really tough gym class and frustrated 'cos I couldn't find what I wanted in the shops, then still had to go to two supermarkets, the chemist, then the pet shop - so wound up 'cos I only just now had my bowl of lentil soup for a late lunch and I was starving!

I tried that and all I got was "that's life"

Really? I hope he/she didn’t say that like that.

I’m a Doctor.

There are ways to handle situations and ways to counsel

First I would probably say, there is no magic wand to fix everything, but don’t lose hope as there are definitely ways to improve, ways to tackle things.

So mate if your Gp told you it’s life, I dunno the context, but you need to find a better counsellor/ Doctor

Well, google is your friend then - either for a new doctor or other sources of counselling.

Little things help in a big way.

Just out of curiosity I downloaded an app called headspace the other day.

It’s a guided meditation app, taking 10 minutes out with a pair of headphones can be massively beneficial.

I’m not saying we should all sit there under a tree cross legged Chanting ohmmmm. But just taking time to clear your head is a great way to just breathe and find a bit of calm.

My son has aspergers and gets very violent and frustrated when he switches. I bought him a punch bag and put it in the shed so that when he does start I physically have to direct him to the shed so he can get rid of the frustration. As to what triggers it , it could be anything but I can always tell by his eyes that he’s about to kick off.

I’m sorry to say thier is no medical help, you can talk to who you want and it will never give you instant help. If you’ve lived with this yourself for sometime I would imagine you already know this. All I could suggest is to try and move to some other interest to try and alleviate they feeling and work through it as a best you can. Talking does help but I know from my experience with my son I or he has to get rid of the current frustration first. He is getting worse as he gets older and I have been trying to get him to try and understand why he is as he is and direct him in another direction when he starts feeling that way

It’s not easy so I do sympathise with you. It’s hard to understand aspergers unless you live with it day in day out

Take care and be safe x

Just try ride through it. I know it’s difficult. My son can’t make and hates making eye contact with anyone so if your in a customer service situation it’s difficult. Try think of something you like a collection of something or plans you are making x

Shitty isn’t it but we neurotypicals feel the same at times, I was like it all the time when I was younger but I’ve learned to deal with it better as I’ve got older.

I'm so glad that shift is over. Talk about a shit day as I've been miserable all throughout that shift.

Even though that shift is over, I still don't feel any better. I'm so down in the dumps and I can't help it

I really do get it, it’s no walk in the park for neurotypicals, we don’t just shrug our shoulders and get on with our day, I’m guessing it takes longer for you to get there though?

I'm not looking forward to working during next week. I still feel angry and depressed that I have to once again miss out on seeing my friends because of work.

I know that I shouldn't feel like this but I can't help it. I'm just so fed up with it all. Right now, I can't help but feel like if things get too much at work, I might do something stupid

What, like quit your job?? Is it the right place for you, would you do better or be happier finding something else?

No, I meant should you think about quitting if it makes you depressed? Why don't you give the Samaritans a ring, I would guess they might be able to point you towards some counselling as well as talking to you directly to provide some support right now, you sound like you need to talk to someone.

Its hard to explain but when I'm happy, I'm bright as a button with a very positive attitude and thinking pleasant thoughts but when something gets me down, I feel miserable and think unhelpful thoughts like what is the point, how can I be happy when something always screws things up and to be honest, there have been unwanted thoughts of me doing something stupid

Quitting never crossed my mind.

Yeah. When I'm down, I can't help but have things bottled up and can't find a way to talk about them

Yeah, that's why I think ringing the Samaritans might be a good idea - they help loads of people when things just look totally bleak, so I would guess they know exactly how to help and get professional advice.

Hello

I just want to talk about the negative thoughts and questions that pop into my head whenever I go into a mixture of anger and depression.

"Why am I still in this fucking job after all these years? "

"Whatever happened to my dream acting career that I wanted? "

"Why am I not out there making a name of myself?"

"I guess dreams never do come true and it's only stuff that happens in movies"

"Perhaps I'm just gonna be a loser with no future for the rest of my life"

"What is the point of anything if this is all there is for me?"

This is what goes on and on in my head whenever I'm in that state of depression. Sleeping does help me feel better which is always good but it can be a pain feeling depressed when it gets triggered. It mostly gets triggered by work but there have been times when it happened when I got dumped by an ex.

Hi Spindler. I know you work all hours, but you mention acting. If this something you would like to do, why don't you find a local amateur dramatic group you could join. It will give you something else to enjoy and concentrate on.

I have tried that in the past but the ones I found were either pricey or of an age group I'm too old for. I do find alternative ways like singing online and dressing up for cosplay which are always fun

That does sound fun!

Yeah. I'm hoping to get some money together so that I can get a costume together for cosplay later in the year

Sounds great!

Yeah. I did cosplay as Freddy Krueger last October at Play Expo. It was great. This year I'm hoping to go as Deadpool. "

That was a great film

"Hello

Yeah definitely

I think what sometimes triggers the anger and depression at work is the customers. There always something that they do or say that for some reason is just gonna piss me off

I used to work with the public, some were lovely and some were downright rude and I have been called some horrible names, so I know exactly how you feel

Yeah. There have been times where I just felt like all customers are cunts but I feel it wouldn't be fair tarnishing all the decent customers with the same brush as those that are complete assholes
