Seem to have quite a few different species in the garden and surrounding areas.
I put out a couple of those peanut butter jars you can get for the birds. They took ages to decide whether it was edible. |

We have had none for weeks, see the odd gull flying above but the garden birds have disappeared, we usually have a Robin in our bird box and even that's gone. Wondering if there's a Hawk of some kind about |

"Hope the hawk hasn’t paid a visit.
Do you try a mix of nuts and seeds
I find the tits love the niger seed. ( can be brought from most garden centres ) " Yeah we spend a fortune on stuff for them during the winter months. Suet pellets, mixed seeds, fat balls. Coconuts. I even make sure the bird bath hasn't frozen over?? but nothing |

I have an ancient hedgerow running the full length of my property. It was full of nesting birds before a magpie cleared them all.
I was going to shoot it but was too soft to pull the trigger. I have laced the hedge with bird feeders and hope to get the nesting birds back. Not sure what to do with magpies though. |

"I love the birds in my garden, but if anyone can think of a way to put off the nocturnal blackbird that keeps me awake I’d be very grateful."
Blackbirds and robins will utilise any light to sing and claim their patch. If you streetlights, there is not a lot you can do.

Blackbird song is my favourite to listen to. Just embrace it |

"I’ve got tits flitting in and and out of my nest box thought it a bit early for nesting but this bloody weather would throw anyone into confusion "
Tits often start scouring the potential abodes around January. They also sleep in nesting boxes in winter nights, as they can help to keep them warmer than outside. Ensure they are clean in winter, ready for nesting. |

I used to regularly put peanuts etc out for them thou each winter the birds became less over the winter months, most likely due to finding another food source, one year fat balls and black sun flower seeds in the holders were disappearing over night, down to two clever wood mice but I had as much fun watching them as I did the birds... |

All I get are dirty big huge crows and those bad boys eat anything I put out for them. I'm quite fond of them now actually.
A couple of sparrows usually hop in for the leftovers though, and the odd robin.
Also have a Swallows nest on the side of the house but they seem to find their own grub. |

I think there is a brand that they simply don’t like, found them skipping some last year and tried a different one this year and vanishing quickly. Might have to check the boxes so can post names.
Clearly some balls are more appealing than others |
