If you haven't already, I would suggest a trip to visit your GP.
My dad has gout and is prescribed medication for it and pain relief.
What sets his gout off is eating liver and pate which he loves. He only has it occasionally now to avoid the flare ups. |

Drink plenty of fluids, and eat cherries, or drink cherry juice. Gout is the production of uric acid, so you need to lay off any foods with a high purine rating. You can find these with a quick web search. I used to get it a lot, now I watch what I eat and havent had a serious attack in a few years. |

Old wives' tale it being caused by gamey/rich food and fortified wine!see you GP and see what he has to say. |

Got a flare up in ma left ankle, not had any beer for nearly a fortnight and I eat healthy food as I'm type 2 as well. I was gonna go to the pub to watch the match, but it looks like a night of Colchicine, Tramadol and Radio Derby for me

I suffer from Gout. A lot lately, and I struggle to get rid of the uric acid normally. Allopurinol does have any affect for me.
I normally get a flare-up in a knee or ankle. I've been fighting an attack off since Wednesday but it's winning the fight and I have been unable an appointment to see my GP for a prescription for colchicine. It's debilitating when a flare-up starts until its finally gone. |

Ask GP about Febuxostat...this works for me where allopurinol didn't. |

I used to suffer from gout badly. They wouldn't diagnose me to start with as a woman under 30. I used to get it in my ankles. I used to have chlorine and allopurinol on regular prescription
It was agony and the doctor said he had seen grown men crying with it |

Black Cherry extract from Holland and Barrett did it for me. I used to suffer really bad but taking that, the pain dissapeared within a few days.
If I have a flare up, I take a couple of capsules and it's gone that day. |

Black cherry is definitely a good start if you want head off an attack before it gets too bad. I use a cherry juice concentrate from Amazon which can do the trick if I catch it early enough.
If not it’s onto the naproxen and worst case I move onto colchicine. That sorts it out a treat and you get get it through online consults at Boots and Superdrug if you don’t fancy a trip to GP.
I literally feel everyone’s pain in this thread, it’s a vicious ailment for sure |

"Does anyone else suffer from gout. I have it in my ankle and suffering with severe pain. Any advice very welcome. "
Get your GP to put you on preventative medication ASAP.
Mine left it too late (covid didn't help) and my specialist thinks the repeated flare-ups might have played a part in long-term damage. |

Agreed.
When gout was a very regular thing for me, colchicine was the only thing that really helped. It would bring the attack to an end much quicker than anything else. |

I had a relative that had it back in the day and had to give up whisky.
Due to the belief then that it was caused by rich food he would describe it:
"As the disease of kings, and the king of diseases".

At the moment I've got a normal left for. The other ones been sponsored by Monster Munch I think.
Its definitely not my foot. But the pain is telling me it's mine.
This morning the pains around 9.5 out of 10, and I feel like my foots been run over by steamroller and every bones been crushed.
My surgery still hasn't processed a prescription for Colchicine. |
