May not run this week, but start Week 2 during the official Week 4. So anybody who feels they are “behind”, stay with it/restart and join me in posting. "This week I’m only working four days (was only meant to be three but has the big boss coming in Tuesday so have to be there for that). Ads and I are off to the flicks tomorrow night so I’ll bus it there and then walk back (just under two miles), Tuesday I’ve got to be in work for 8 so I’ll orobably walk (1.8 miles) and then bus it home, weds I’ll walk one way and then bus it home another not sure on the combination yet, Thursday we are off to eurekas then to see my son and walk up to the pub so probably get in another couple of miles, then it’s the weekend probably fit another 4 miles in, I will definitely break this week!! Thinking about maybe signing up for some kind of fun run thing where you can walk later in the year as I have majorly surprised myself this week. I even walked the kids to the bus stop today and that’s over a mile away with no complaints and back again and I felt fine! Geeky x" You’re really racking up the miles. That’s so impressive. Should i start from the beggining again? " Impossible to say without knowing how fit you are now. I would advise starting with week 1 day 1, and if that is too easy, try week 2 day 1 next time. Based on those 2 runs, and your recall of how you felt doing it last time, pick a level you feel would be tough but doable, and start from there. Good luck! | |||

" I wouldnt if i was you, you know you're capable of running without stopping so plan a route out thats about 5km then run it until you stop, walk a bit then do whatever it takes to finish the 5km. Have a day or so rest and go out again with the intention of beating your previous effort. Wont take long until your back to your old level | |||

If that’s easy go straight to w2r1, then w3r1 until it isn’t so easy. Then carry on as normal, every other day of course. | |||
"Whats a half marathon like? " HM is my favourite distance. Far enough to be challenging, but without the three month of training needed to do a marathon. Think of it as 4 parkruns and a victory lap. Going from 0 to 5k is really hard. 5k to 10k is difficult. 10k to half marathon is a little easier. | |||

Sounds like you might be better off with a shorter jogging period for now, something which you can achieve with a bit of effort, but doesn't leave you doubled over. Once you get comfortable with that then slowly increase the jogging time. Persistence will pay dividends, stick with it! x | |||

As if you’re doing a who-can-jog-the-slowest competition. For me, following a couch to 5k app, helped me think that it must be doable because the app said it was. Don’t lose heart! You’re out there doing exercise and that’s a load more than most people are doing. Remember - this is the Crap Runners’ Club. Takes me at least 2.30 to be able to breathe properly again as i tried decreasing walk time but couldnt jog again for any length of time. Just thinking if i maybe decrease jog time and walk time both to 30 seconds (yet to try it out) i may be able to breathe but also jogging for more time overall. But i dont know if doing that would be sending my progress backwards rather than forwards. Not losing heart though. Just theories going through my head | |||

Park run and community is a massive help here for advice and support " Yes, parkrun is great, especially for new runners who fancy entering a 'proper' race, but might be feeling a bit nervous or intimidated at the thought of being out there with 'proper' runners. Park run is nothing like that, it is very welcoming to new/slow runners and walkers, it's whole ethos is based on inclusivity and providing an opportunity for everyone to get out there and give it a go. If you fancy a more organised run, but are worried about taking the plunge, then parkrun is definitely for you! ![]() | |||

Yesterday was still sore and bloody cold so I rested but knowing that today I had to get out in order to do my 3 per week with rest days. Hat n hoody on I ran like that toddler, chased that pug like my life depended on it. New week so harder didn't get as far or as fast but it doesn't matter I did it ![]() | |||
