It seems since I have returned to the site that every other forum post is either a loaded one or one seeking acceptance.
Ie;hung guys asking if women prefer large or small cocks, tall guys asking if women prefer Taller or shorter guys (loaded questions) or "am I hot" posts. (seeking acceptance).
It seems to be a male only phenomenon on here, is this possibly a result of the modern social media 'like' trend or are modern men losing self confidence?
Do not take this as an attack on you if you have indeed posted a question like mentioned.

"I think your exaggerating OP. Yes I see them but 50% of the threads are that type?
Nah I don't think so."
You are correct, I was generalising and should have worded it better. |

I think some tend to come from insecurity, but mainly attention. They're hoping they'll attract people into what they post about. You'd have to ask women and couples if they've responded to those "do women like blah blah" posts if the op messaged them privately |

Its not just a male phenomenon - I've seen a fair few threads from women seeking validation/acceptance of some sort too, though yes, it's more commonly seen from men simply because there are more of them! I guess some of these will be from people lacking self confidence and hoping to feel better about themselves based on the replies they get - in that respect women tend to fare rather better than men do for positive feedback (not surprisingly). However I'm not so sure it's always about a genuine desire for reassurance as opposed to a thinly disguised 'look at me' ....
But those kind of threads are inevitable here |

To me it links into what the exFacebook guy said about social media destroying the fabric of society:
".....the ability to connect and share information so quickly — as well as the instant gratification people give and receive over their posts — has resulted in some negative consequences, according to Palihapitiya.
“It literally is a point now where I think we have created tools that are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works. That is truly where we are,” he said. “The short-term, dopamine-driven feedback loops that we have created are destroying how society works: no civil discourse, no cooperation, misinformation, mistruth. And it’s not an American problem. This is not about Russian ads. This is a global problem.” |

It's probably more than what I see due to being nieve.
I look at a thread heading and usually decide there and then if I can add anything to it if I don't think I can I forget about it instantly.
Having been here for years I haven't seen a rise in 'look at me' type threads but as mentioned I tend to not notice them anyway. |

I don't think it's a male only phenomenon. I don't think modern men are losing confidence I think there have always been men who lack confidence they're just far more visible on social media. |

There and to the left a bit |
"Where's the harm in wanting to be accepted and/ or liked? "
There's none at all - after all it's the underlying ethos of the site - I do think there's a fine line though between that and constantly seeking attention or screaming "look at me", which can be crossed by some on occasion.
Now personally when it happens I just and move on |

"It's a case of men trying to make themselves noticed in the male dominated arena.
Some people just stand out without trying
While others try very hard to stand out "
You don't need to try either |

Thank you for bringing this up Michael.
I'm so bored of the "look at me" posts. I don't think it's a lack of self confidence. I think they're full of it!
Just use your status update instead, like me
