"Not, all they do is calorie count, mix shakes and work out how many miles they have left to the target. Pass thanks. "
Not the only thing we do being honest, we work our diets out for each meal so have the healthy lifestyle |

In fairness you did title this Gym Free.
And to me that is the kind of person listed above.
And not for me to spend any real time with. Been there done that.
I'll 100% happier lifting 4 times a week and eating what I want and being around people that have a good life/gym balance. Not life is gym balance |

Nope!
Never counted a calorie, I admit I do mix the odd shake, and the only miles I count are on the drive to my FWB.

"I wouldn't call them freaks. Anyone with the determination and motivation to regularly use the gym has my respect. "

You'll tend to find that a lot of people that push themselves in he gym have had self confidence issues.
It doesn't have to rule your life, you can still have a life, and you can also be an intelligent person with a personality.
If it makes somebody more comfortable with themselves then that's a good thing? |

I know people who have become addicted to working out. It's better than being addicted to alcohol or amphetamines. |

I do a full body weights session twice a week, I'm reasonably good with my diet through the week but eat and drink what I want within reason on a weekend. I'm certainly not a slave to it but I like to keep in shape. |

See I work out (I have to as part of my job- I have to be able to wear full fire fighting uniform and kit in cases of emergencies at sea), I have to stay fit (my mile an half run time is currently at 10:30). In my role as a volunteer with a certain organisation, I’m a qualified physical training instructor and preach the values of a healthy lifestyle, but I’m no gym freek and I much more prefer to be going down the pub for a beer and burger than being in a gym any day of the week!
A mate of mine on the other hand is a physical trainer in my work and her Instagram account is full of nothing but pictures of her meals made and ready for the week ahead and videos of her power lifts. To me that’s a gym freek. |

Same for me, I'm 36 in a couple of weeks and can still smash a 10 minute PFA. I'm being pushed towards a certain activity in the Cambrian mountains later this year so my fitness is going to be very good this year |

I would class myself as a bit of a *gym freak* but i dont count miles or calories.
I train hard and eat what i want.
I think you'll find that the more obsessive types that you depict as a *freak* may have some element of body dysmorphia going on.. in which case, i would use that term carefully. |

Ps If a workout takes place. And no one records it. Does it still burn calories ? |

No, that's called promoting your business.
I have a work Instagram very similar, potential clients don't need to see my personal life,
They want to see what I can offer to help & support them to reach their goals |

I train 4 days a week and eat a healthy diet.
I have a high metabolism and can lose weight easily. I like to push myself.
The gym isn't my life, it's something I enjoy doing.
Badonkadonk!
Hope to see you in a club sometime... |

recently i was at a party and one of the lads i know brought his wife, she was what i would call a gym freak, all she talked about for the night was the fitness classes she did, the food she ate, how many times she done this that and the fecking other, in the end, her own husband was embarrassed as she started telling people around her that she could help them get fit, and they shouldn’t be drinking beer, they should avoid the buffet, i just told her she was lacking a life |

"I train 6 times a week - cycling, running or swimming. I watch what I eat and don’t drink much but still enjoy treats here and there. I talk about other things too though! "
I think a balance is good. Pro athletes ironically have more awareness about boring people with it than amateurs I think - probably cos they like to get away from it occasionally! The few I've met did anyway ... |

I spend 8-10 hours a week in the gym, I count calories and my protein intake.
Am I a freak, no. I don't really talk to people about it unless they show an interest and it in no way interferes with my normal life.
I still drink and eat burgers and chocolate. |

My twin instructs gym classes.
It has to be the most boring and dull thing to have to hear about to the point if she starts talking about it, I blatantly change the subject. So basing it on her, avoid at all costs. |

Depends, how many days does one have to go gym to be considered a gym freak ? I go a few days a week but I wouldn't say I'm a freak. Can't be bothered to check calories or even drink protein shakes lol I just eat good food, and maybe once a month check my weight to see if I gained any muscle weight. |

I love training hard and I’ve never counted a calorie in my life. Eat what I want when I want. Mix it up and listen to your body. If you need a rest take a rest.
If I don’t train consistently or eat loads of crap I get lethargic and have no energy. Training hard and eating well you feel so much better.
All about balance but respect to people who want to push themselves whatever the reason. |

I'm training more days than not and walk, yoga, stretch and watch what I consume. But I only talk about it with others who have this interest. All my male gym freak muscular friends are lovely and very interesting but we attract those who are right for us. |
