Is feminism going too far now?

In the shops at the weekend I saw a phone case and a top stating females are more equal.

I watched the news and a broadcaster referred to one guest as a lady and she took umbridge stating she wanted to just be called a human being.

My colleague wore a replica suffragette badge to work today and a male colleague said it was unnecessary. He thinks women now have more rights than men. He was very put out about it.

Personally I’ve still, in my profession, seen far too much of the old boys club in action.

Central

Everyone has a right to an opinion and there probably are as many of them as there are people.

There's a pushback from some quarters against equality, as some have done nicely in the older days.

Pay and thus life opportunities are still not equal, so a key feminist need has still to be achieved imo.

The recent spate of sexual assaults reports against women still show male abuse of power and privilege - though some are historical.

The biggest need is for full equality for all.

There's evidence that we still have a way to go. On the flip side there is some silliness. Anne Widicombe made an excellant point on big brother. She didn't agree with all women shortlists for elections. I have seen a lot of times where there has been call for more women in this or that field. Same for ethnic minorities or disabilities. I don't agree with that. Best person for the job always regardless.

Is it possible to have equality or fairness! Men are better at something's and women are better at others.

Yes, nearly 30% of MPs are now women. Of course they said it was political correctness gone mad to ever give women the vote.

So, nearly 30% of MPs. Some people say, "Look how far we've come," like 30% of a journey is far. it's like some guy has 2" of penis and is waving it about, saying, "look at this and it'll only get bigger."

When it's suggested that maybe there should be more women on shortlists as candidates, men and Ann widdecombe start insisting, "No, no, no, positive discrimination is unfair, it must be based on merit," like merit is why men still have over 70% of the power. As somebody once said, nobody gives up power without a fight.

This is part of what is called the patriarchy, a word men bristle at like Dracula to crucifixes. But what else could it be called?

Supposing aliens took over the world in the dark ages. They've been in control for centuries, deciding what's best for humankind. They even let some men sit in parliament, eventually.

After several decades, the men start suggesting maybe it should be equal, like half alien, half men, because the men don't hate the aliens, though whenever the men start asking for it to be equal, the aliens are like, "Woah, where did all this hatred come from? Calm down, you're getting hysterical. You have babies and we don't."

"Yes," say the men, "we have alien baby facehuggers you impregnate us with!"

"Exactly!" burp the aliens. "Now, could you make us a sandwich?"

What would men call that? "Fucking alien bastards" would be my guess.

Jonny in Big Brother said Feminism has gone too far, because a women said she was a femnist but expected him to pay for dinner. So that's it, wrap it up right here, because one woman has spoiled it for everybody.

it's the same with domestic violence. If a feminist writes about it, there's no shortage of men recounting how a cousin of a mate knows this guy who got hit by a woman. They don't really care about that guy and think he's a bit of a pussy who should man up but it's a convenient stick to beat Feminism with.

They're certainly not going to start any refuges for men who've been kept in financial dependence and fear the slamming of the door when the pubs shut. Who runs those refuges for battered men? The same ones started for battered women, because of Feminism.

The slghtest bit of reverse sexism and there's always some guy moaning, "If a bloke did that..." Never do think think to themselfes, "This must be what it's like for women all the time."

Mention that women aren't promoted equally and some guy will say that women bosses would be as bad as men, missing the point that women don't have to be better bosses, they deserve to have the same oppotuinity to be bad bosses.

Men will challenge the idea that female tennis players should be paid the same as the men, "because they only play three sets." Notwithstanding the women want to play five sets, the men never said Usain Bolt should be paid less than Mo Farah because Bolt only runs for ten seconds.

Anyway, I think Ann Widdecombe is actually transgender, because she's like a bloke with blokey attitudes stuck in a woman's body.

"Ye God's, image going down the pub and the BarHumanBeing says....."Hello Human being, what can I get you" XXX"

That's a tad melodramatic.

Dany Cotton is the Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade and was at the Grenfell Tower disaster. She's requested that people stop being ranting, red-faced hypocrites whining about political correctness gone mad.

Actually, she's just suggested that women have been in the Fire Service since 1982, long enough for her to become Commissioner, and "it’s ridiculous that 35 years later people are still surprised to see women firefighters or calling them firemen."

Commissioner Cotton continued, “I want to shake off outdated language which we know is stopping young girls and women from considering this rewarding and professional career."

The usual ranting hypocrites were quick to the social medium to inform the world of their red-faced anger.

“Who cares as long as they put out a fire?” asked one caring commenter, apparently missing the obvious point that a woman, the Commissioner who was at the Grenfell Tower disaster, cares, along with the other women in the Fire Service.

One man was angry enough to declare that once again the "limp-wristed PC brigade" should "eff off."

He's not going to change using one word just for a bunch of brave women who run into burning buildings to save lives. They're girls.

But call him a girl and he'll probably punch you. Do not call him a girl. Or a woman, especially if his job title says he's a man, like a barman. He cares about his job title so you can cut that out right now, you liberal lefty PC gone mad brigade.

Hypocrisy is so much easier than running into burning buildings.

Watching the news this morning BBC breakfast were reporting on a cabinet reshuffle, saying more women were expected to achieve positions.

If they are the best person for the job Great.

Not a fan of positive discrimination, we need the best people regardless of sex, that is true equality.

I like William Goldings' famous quote about women best though!

There's a lot of things gone mad.Todays society has been destroyed by the pc brigade.

I agree with equal rights for all but were living in a world now where certain people not just feminists use political correctness to there advantage and they've milked it to there full advantage until it's turned into cheese.

Those that pc was meant to protect have fully took advantage of it unfortunately.Yet there's still blind idiots helping them do that.

Pc was to welcome others into the masses without discrimination now the masses are discriminated against and silenced by those that everyone was trying give rights too x

You used the words reverse sexism. This negates anything else you say. Sexism is sexism. It's like saying black people are reverse racist against whites. Nonsence.

And your comment about Anne Widicombe belongs in the dark ages. She is Anne W with Anne W attitudes.

That aside I just used her comment as a recent example of something that I heard and agreed with.

Stamp out sexism, racism and any other ism full stop. Fair crack of the whip for all.

Of course women have had it far worse for many years. No one with a right mind will argue that. If 2 people go for the same job that is equally doable by both sexes then may the best person win. If one gets the job based on their gender over the other alone then that's bullshit. Equally so whichever one gets it. It really is that simple. Please just take this as an example of equality of course.

I got called an old dinosaur on a previous thread for saying I would offer a seat to a lady.

But I would still offer you a seat.
