Does anyone else experience depression more acutely at this time of the year?

"Does anyone else experience depression more acutely at this time of the year?"

I would imagine a lot of people do.

I had a moment on a bus today. I smelled an aftershave that took me back to some time in my life. I don't know what it reminded me of but my eyes teared up.

It always seems to happen on buses.

I feel more melancholic. Restless. Fucked off with the World.

Yes, I think it’s a mix of post Christmas blues and the dark mornings and nights. It’s very common apparently x

If you put a lot of energy into Christmas, I think that can leave you vulnerable. It can tire you out emotionally and depression often follows that.

I used to like the beginning of the year. A new start, ready to tackle whatever life has to challenge me with.

It's nothing to do with Christmas, for me. I don't do much towards it now. The cold weather brings me down a lot.

I don't like Christmas, but still feel low after Christmas.

The blues were last week when I went back work- lacking motivation.

This week will be better as it’s back to normality, full week etc

Yes, it's dark early, cold, dismal and dull at this time of year.

But OP, look on the bright side, we have passed the shortest day and it won't be long before everything brightens up XXX
