So like most I was sceptical
Then back in 1999 I saw an old man in a pub, he was usually with his wife who always drove him there, normally he had a walking frame, anyway one lunch time 1st working week of January 1999
I saw him on his own, he tipped his gllass to me and smiled.
That afternoon I mentioned seeing this old chap ( he was an ex councillor). To my warehouse manager, his response floored me!!
You can’t have he died over Christmas
Have you a story to add to mine on here?
Please keep it real |

It seems that some people see ghosts and others don't.
One of the most interesting people I have ever met was a chap who was the official church exorcist. He had lots of amazing stories but he never saw a ghost himself even when the people beside him were crapping themselves.
I don't see them even though I've stayed in a supposedly haunted house all night on a ghost hunt. So sorry, I can't add any exciting stories. Interesting topic though. |

I've never really believed until we moved into an old mill house and weird things started happening. We even watched a sherry glass move by itself. It doesn't bother us now I think whoever it is seems friendly.
I was hoping my dear mum would visit after she died but I only ever dream of her. I mentioned this to a friend who said when they appear in your dreams they are with you. |

I lost a friend who I knew from school and because of distance in how far he lived from me I was unable to attend his funeral, nearly 10 years later I visited the small cemetry with a friend which over looked the small village where he lived with his wife, we managed to find where he lived and spoke to his widow, she said it was about 3 weeks after his passing that she woke up in bed and her husband was standing nearby, he said to her he did,nt want to be up on the hill away from everyone in the village and then went, thou I have never witnessed a spirit I,m more a believer than I,m not. |

My parents house is over 170 years old.It was originally a coach house then a small hotel and got abandoned in 1950.
My dad purchased it in the 80s and fully renovated it into what it us now.
As a child I would play in all the rooms and explore it as I didn't know ghost story's so what I didn't know I didn't fear.
One thing that I can never explain was a reacuring dream I always had of a man with a big black hat standing at the bottom of my bed and I would pull the quite over my head and after time he would dissaper and I didn't know if I was awake or asleep.A few years ago I was reading the little bit of research my mom did on the house and it said in 1927 a server in the hotel was killed by one of the guests in the ivy room. The ivy room was where my bedroom was appart from a few moved walls it ran half way through my bedroom.it also said that the servers were known for there smart appearance as the owner of the hotel would make them wear full butlers suits and tall hats with the hotels logo on the front.
I don't know if it was something I heard that played on my mind as a child or just coincidence but as soon as I read that and found out what happened the hairs stood up on my arms x |

My dad was having lunch on board an aircraft carrier back in the 70's. An aircrewman from a sea vixen stuck his head into the galley and said "see you later chaps!". No one thought too much of it until it turned out he'd died during lunch as he couldn't leave his aircraft before it crashed. (No ejector seat in the bomb aimer position). |

I started a similar thread last night, this is copy and pasted from my message to a friend...
Well I've heard disembodied footsteps around the kitchen area a lot with no logical explanation, heard a disembodied voice call me by my name in the ladies toilets, felt like I was being watched in the kitchen. A colleague confirmed that he's heard foot steps in the same area as I do, told me that children's laughter is heard in a currently unused room in a place where I often feel uneasy, there's a ghost of a soldier on the first floor and a ghost of a woman on the third - supposedly if you look at your reflection in glass doors on the floor she sometimes looks back at you instead of your reflection, a chef had an epileptic fit in the basement kitchen in the 90s, had an accident and died there. In the bar area, one of my work colleagues saw a man sat at the bar in the middle of the night on CCTV, but when he went to look no one was there, and in the bar area, my work colleague who confirmed the stuff I've felt was on the night shift with someone who's since left, and on one night they saw a mop bucket roll itself along a flat floor, then a light switched itself off and they heard banging on the walls that night.
(I work in a modern chain hotel but the building dates back from at least the Victorian era.) |

I've told this story before on a previous thread, I've heard things, steps, voices and had feelings that I'm not alone in some locations, but the only thing I truly experienced was my grandad talking to me in the the car one day, a few days AFTER he died. It felt like he was sitting next to me and he said, "Just slow down here" and I did, going under a railway bridge where then about a hundred metres up, the road bends and a kid ran out in front of me. Fortunately because I had slowed there was no accident but to this day I feel sure that if I'd continued at the speed I was going at I would have hit the kid.
He was looking out for me |

I worked as a Deputy Manager in a place, had key holder responsibility.
Was locking up one night, had a colleague with me who insisted on staying while I locked up ( our building was in the middle of nowhere, limited lighting outside)
We'd done the closing checks upstairs, we were down stairs locking the office when we heard footsteps, like a child running across the upstairs floor, unmistakeable noise because of the false floor which had been fitted... shit! So we go back upstairs, it's clear soon lock up and gtfo.
Next morning we find that paperwork which had been filed neatly away all over the floor. Arranged in a near line....
I never minded locking up alone before then. Never locked up alone after that

My mum passed away in 2016 and before the funeral I decided to clean her house as that was where the cortège was going to leave from. I was the only person in the house with the front door locked and key in the lock. I was cleaning the bedroom and the toilet flushed itself, then I couldn’t get the vacuum to work as the switch on the plug had been pushed in, it had been working fine. The same morning I had chosen her outfit for her to wear to meet her maker in. I think the ‘mischief’ was her approval of the outfit I chose. It made me feel sad at the time |

There was a very attractive couple. The chap was a banker. One day the the banker got shot dead by a colleague and became a ghost. I don't know how HR dealt with it.
Ghost banker's girlfriend found ghost banker's death difficult. She would just potter around.
Ghost banker can't talk to humans. But manages to make a friend with a psychic, who is human. But a conman, that's a woman. The psychic used to be charlatan, they were very popular in the 1990's, as was this story I'm telling.
The fake psychic who is now an actual psychic (this story is nuts) passes messages on to ghost banker's girlfriend, because women like to talk.
Ghost banker meets another ghost. The other ghost haunts a well known chain of sandwich shops, I don't know why. Other ghost teaches ghost banker how to move stuff with his mind.
Other ghost had to teach ghost banker because YouTube didn't exist back then. It's an olden days ghost story. Anyway, ghost banker gets revenge on his college, WITH HIS MIND.
Ghost banker celebrates vengeance of his colleague by getting inside the psychic, he's in heaven.
That's my ghost story. I hope you don't have nightmares.

"Anymore?"
I lived in a remote house in the middle of nowhere where I experienced the most chilling noises and shadows that are plausibly imaginable x our house was an 15 th century coaching inn and the rumours of highway men were rife, a 5 years old girl was murdered 1.5 miles away from my bed and a gibit post stood less than 3
I walked the dark fields and lanes in the darkest of hours and heard sounds that could set blood to stone
However i or anyone else has ever truly seen the presence of an ex human
They may imagine they have , are convinced they have but truly whatever the reason they think they have , an ex human it isn't xxx |

When I was at college in Hereford I used to stop overnight on many occasions at a female friends house who shared the place with two other girls. They experienced many noises footsteps, running upstairs, lights/TV turning off and on and furniture moving so much so that one night it upset two of them that much that they ran around to their neighbours only to be told that the previous students in the house had experienced the same goings on..... |

When I was a kid I went to visit the town museum on a school trip. As we were rounding the corner, I saw a person on a bike crash into the nearby stream. I ran to see if he was ok but nobody else did, when I got to the stream there was a bike with the back wheel spinning but nobody there. I asked a friend he said he just saw me running nothing else and got the same response from everyone else on the trip.
Also last year when we was in the house we rented I was taking a shower and I swear I heard Geeky knock on the door and say hurry up when I called back Geeky said what I’m in bed.

Like a lot of people I was sceptical about ghosts. My Dad and nan claim to have seen them. I was a disbeliever. First experience was about 10 years ago. I’m in the kitchen with girlfriend in her house. I look across out of the glazed doors and see shape wearing a white shirt moving. I says to her “ there’s ( her son) trying to get your attention. “ can’t be “ she says, “ he’s at his dads this weekend”. I described what I could see. “ oh that’s my dad checking up to see if I’m ok “. I knew she lost her dad 20 years previous. Que hairs on neck to attention. |

Second experience was in my own home when I saw the shape of a woman at the back kitchen door, my ex wife saw the lower legs of black trousers walking up the stairs. More than once. Worst and most frightening experience was this: Wife ( now ex ) and I sat at dining room table. 9 month old baby in her walker in middle of room. I’m sat looking at my laptop ( looking at something like Fab, wrong at the time so please don’t judge me ) when I start to feel something choking me. I look down to my child who has both her hands around her neck giggling and pretending to do herself harm. The pressure around my neck is increasing and I’m struggling to breath. I’m starting to struggle to breathe. As I’m going to get up I presses the power button off on my laptop, the pressure comes off my neck, daughter releases her hands of her next and run into the kitchen and vomit my breakfast back up. Absolutely terrifying..... Another time ex wife and I went on a night out. Left daughter in the care of a baby sitter who also worked at the day nursery, so we knew her well. We had a great night out. Got home at about 11pm and the very very first thing the baby sitter said was “ is this house haunted?” To which we replied “ yes”. “ oh that’s ok, I’ve seen him then”. She said. |

We presently have cats as pets and occasionally they start to go absolutely mental without reason. They all seem to focus on one corner of the living room and behave as if there is a threat there. I myself have also experienced the feeling of something pulling at my feet from the end of the bed many years ago. Quite violently and thankfully only on one occasion. One common theme for the ghost sightings is when there has been bad Karma in the house. The Ex Wife used to see the “ ghost trouser legs” on the stairs when I was at work and fucking my ( secret FB) She rightly assumed bad stuff was going on. I also saw my “ ghost” when she was on girly nights out ( and I knew she was up to no good). Now in an open and honest relationship with Michelle I have not seen a ghost here for quite a while. Like a lot of things in life, most of us have to see it to believe it and I look forward to reading other peoples experiences. |

Not a ghost story as such, but...
When my late husband was very ill at home and unbeknown to us dying of cancer, our dog would not stop howling and whining. The day the ambulance took him to hospital (he never came back), the dog stopped howling and whining.
The night my husband died, I was sitting at 2am with 2 son's, 3rd son entered room and the furreal talking parrot my daughter got for Christmas malfunctioned and kept saying hello, over and over again. I tried switching it off with the remote and switch on its back, but it wouldn't stop. I had to take the batteries out. We were all spooked up and the parrot has never been switched on again. XXX |

I have seen and heard few ghosts.
I heard a dog walk from my front door along the hall, into my bedroom. When I went to look there was no dog there, the front door was locked. Yet I heard the claws on the wooden floor, and the Dogtag on the collar.
Also saw a ghost sitting in a seat of a brittania 757, as it was towed around the airfield. That was a bit of an unexpected one, I can tell you. |

When I was a boy we lived on the ground floor of a large old house in Hereford, I never saw anything but after we left the new owners bought the whole house and opened up the staircase, they kept seeing a little girl in Victorian dress on the stairs, this thread has reminded me, might go and see who lives there now. |

I work with a girl whose parents used to own an old pub. They'd frequently lock up at the end of the night, tidy up and put all the chairs on the tables, only to come down the next morning to find the chairs flung all over the room.
They never heard any noise or disturbance. It just kept happening and they presumed they had a ghost. |

Year ago my ex husband was in full ‘ghost hunting’ mode and he went to a church yard that was known for activity, he filmed for quite a while and didn’t see anything. He watched it back and there was some kind of figure behind a tombstone that he couldn’t explain but it was years ago and cameras aren’t like they are now, I still don’t know if it was anything.

We have ghost dog here, sadly not our own pet (would love that to be so though..) A black Labrador of the owner of our house in the 60's in climbs onto our beds, and even my daughter's chest once when she came home a couple of years ago, when she was asleep.
We asked our neighbour and they went white when we told them, the previous owner committed suicide (not in the house) and the dog died here. They had completely forgotten about the dog and were shocked but obviously believed us, as clearly they knew what happened |

"When I was a boy we lived on the ground floor of a large old house in Hereford, I never saw anything but after we left the new owners bought the whole house and opened up the staircase, they kept seeing a little girl in Victorian dress on the stairs, this thread has reminded me, might go and see who lives there now."
Third thread from Hereford

As a kid of about 9 or 10 I lived with my parents in a council house built in the 1920,s, On a few occasions in my bed at night I could feel the presense of someone in my room I,d lay there and I could almost at times feel someones hand almost bearing down on me, I was scared and my bedsheets I soaked in sweat, thou this happened a couple of times at night time I never did ask to change rooms, It was only years later my mum mentioned to me that while she sat in the lounge on occasions at night she would hear someone going up the stairs with a limp, this would be the old man who lived their before and it would be him comeing into my room probabily his at one time, I never saw him but he was probabily Intrigued with my presense there.. |

So this is a strange one not really sure what this was, but I will share.
Whilst living in Worcester we used to travel Over to see relatives In Hereford quite frequently.
This occurred one Sunday daytime, it was hammering it down, for those who know the area we reached Fromes Hill
A village roughly halfway between the two cities, there by the pub stood a little boy in school uniform , shorts and school cap, very 60’s style clothes, stood on side of the road. Remember this is on a day that it was pouring down with rain. On a Sunday?
We all saw this and have always wondered... |

" It was probabily It was mid summer 93 & 94 I visited a old water mill cottage in norfolk with my parents on holiday it was near cley as I like watching birds, but for one night out of 12 nights on each occasion, you would be lyeing in bed in the dark at night, and it just felt like a vortex comeing from the middle of the room pressing down on you almost smoothering you but allowing you to breath as soon as this happened I would say please go and leave me and Imediately it did on both occasions, the ladie that owned the cottage then never mentioned anything about it perhaps not to put folk off.. |

Loving this thread
On my way home one saturday night ....after a late shift I was approaching the summerhill house , which is now a travel.lodge and Harvester .
I indicated to pull passed an old Hackney carriage ... little lamps on the side and a guy sitting on the top with a whip and wearing I top hat.
I passed him slowly , pulled up at the trafficlights ... looked in my rear mirror ....no one there

The shared fridge at work is haunted. Everytime I put some fruit in there, when I return a few hours later I'll open the door to get it, the fruit has dissapeared and the air turns really cold and damp. |

Me and misses where visiting someone in hospital when I felt a presence and time appeared to stop still, after a few moments the misses said to me ‘did I touch her leg’. I answered no as I couldn’t move. She claimed to have a freezing cold patch on her leg and I felt totally drained and weird. Don’t know what happened but we both believe something strange did occur. |

As a child my father used to live in an old cottage
At the bottom of the stairs was a door which they used to latch and bolt when him his sister and my grandparents retired to bed.
My fathers room was a so called landing bedroom
So his sister had a bedroom, his parents had their bedroom, all would have to pass his bed to get to the stairs
Yet every morning the door was open before anyone had gone down
This is true, but my father never saw or heard anyone pass him during the night
