So my gym membership expires this week and I don't want to renew because if I am honest although I went regularly I didn't enjoy it.

My question is this... What can I replace the gym with to ensure I maintain my exercise regime at least 3 times a week... And hopefully something not quite as expensive as a gym.

I want, if possible, something different but high impact, maybe I'm not going to get something but would really appreciate some ideas

Thanks all x

Quick answer is rampant sex.

Serious answer, are there any bootcamps?

Reasonably cheap, you can buy 2 or 3 different weights for the price of one month gym membership.

There are loads of tutorials on YouTube on how to use them.

Do a internet search of all gym classes in your area. Circuit training, HIIT, boxercise, yoga, kettlebells, spinning, martial arts or whatever.

Try them all out and see which ones you enjoy and which ones are effective.

If you want to train at home too just get a exercise mat and a kettlebell. There’s tons of free training videos on YouTube that you can train along with. Make a plan and stick to it. Good luck!

If you enjoyed doing step aerobics you could always buy one, and do it at home, theres many videos on youtube of different levels to do it along to.

To be fair you can find videos to most things on there if you want to do things at home instead of the gym. However i find im less motivated on my own than in a class

Probably £50 a year and £4 a session.

Complete guess.

I pay twice that for my sport but it's outdoors on AstroTurf so should be more expensive.

You should be able to go down the badminton or even tennis route without too much expense and it'll widen your social circle for free.

Sometimes U.K

Try jogging or power walking, great for cardio and stamina. Headphones on with motivational music helps

Also, you could set yourself a daily wake up routine of 20 press ups or sit ups, there’s plenty of phone apps for home fitness.

Might take a few tries to find what you really enjoy, well done for keeping at it though

Do it in small stages until you can do it in one?

Halfway by bus cycle the rest etc. I started doing it I work 35 miles from home and have to conquer saddleworth moor, took some doing but save both on fuel and gym membership now. Only do it two days a week it’s more than enough though!!!!

You can adjust your HIT as you like.

I do HIIT at a place called gymophobics. A ladies only gym. No men,no mirrors, ten pieces of equipment, 3 minutes each piece so you’re done in half an hour. I go every other day in my way home from work and a Sunday morning. The members are all ages up to 70’s and the equipment can be tailored to suit your abilities.I’m the laziest person but I manage to do that and have been for nearly two years. Keeps me trim and toned and gives me energy too. They are a national company.

I read that sex is not actually very efficient exercise.

Then again, research at Yale University found that not worrying about dying will add more years to your life (seven) than going to the gym or giving up smoking (three each).

I love telling joggers that. And the thing about jogging is for every minute you run, you get a minute back at the end of your lfe, when you need a nurse to wipe your arse. Mmmm, gimme more of that good stuff.

A brisk 45-minute walk is as good cardio-wise as a run.
