"What’s 420 ...I’m 40 so out of touch with all these phrases
It’s ‘code’ for dope.
Yep. Code for ‘stupid’
I avoid stupid people. "
Some people use it for pain relief also. Can't blanket judge everyone |

Its origin isn't clear. Some say it's the appropriate time for the first joint of the day but it's also claimed that a group of high school kids agreed to meet at 4.20 after school one day to search for a mythical crop. The latter was promoted by a High Times journalist and the term was adopted by Grateful Dead fans.
If smoking dope is stupid, go burn your entire record collection. And while you're doing that, get a clue. I think booze may have addled your brain. |

Do people who use it for pain relief refer to themselves as into 420? |

It’s like anything, in moderation.
We wouldn’t meet someone who wanted to be part of a meet. Our choice don’t tell us off.
Likewise we wouldn’t want to meet somebody who was leathered on alcohol, or wanted to stop every ten minutes for a cigarette.
If it works for you fine, just don’t expect everybody else to tolerate what you enjoy.

There are essentially only two drugs that Western civilization tolerates: Caffeine from Monday to Friday to energize you enough to make you a productive member of society, and alcohol from Friday to Monday to keep you too stupid to figure out the prison that you are living in.

Very true. I'm always surprised how judgmental people are on this topic. Especially as plenty feel that way about swinging. Each to their own I say. If it's not for you, move on. No need to judge others on their life choices |

Well according to research as part of the cohort study by Cardiff University using the admission of drug taking may mean you excluding the wrong people then. That's not to say it's not a perfectly good reason to exclude them from your meets just that the underlying assumption may be wrong.
As I'm not sure that in the CNN site passes the permitted site rules so I have copied their article on the study: "High IQ linked to drug use
The "Just Say No" generation was often told by parents and teachers that intelligent people didn't use drugs. Turns out, the adults may have been wrong.
A new British study (in 2010) finds children with high IQs are more likely to use drugs as adults than people who score low on IQ tests as children. The data come from the 1970 British Cohort Study, which has been following thousands of people over decades. The kids' IQs were tested at the ages of 5, 10 and 16. The study also asked about drug use and looked at education and other socioeconomic factors. Then when participants turned 30, they were asked whether they had used drugs such as marijuana, cocaine and heroin in the past year.
Researchers discovered men with high childhood IQs were up to two times more likely to use illegal drugs than their lower-scoring counterparts. Girls with high IQs were up to three times more likely to use drugs as adults. A high IQ is defined as a score between 107 and 158. An average IQ is 100. The study appears in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
The lead researcher says he isn't surprised by the findings. "Previous research found for the most part people with high IQs lead a healthy life, but that they are more likely to drink to excess as adults," says James White a psychologist at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.
It's not clear why people with high childhood IQs are more likely to use illegal drugs. "We suspect they may be more open to new experiences and are more sensation seeking," says White. In the paper, White and his co-author also mention other studies that find high IQ kids may use drugs because they are bored or to cope with being different.
That seems to ring true for one of my childhood classmates. Tracey Helton Mitchell was one of the smartest kids in my middle school. But, by the time she was in her early 20's, Tracey was a heroin addict. I found out while flipping channels one sleepless night and stumbled upon the documentary "Black Tar Heroin."
"I was confident in my abilities but there was a dissonance," says Tracey, with whom I recently reconnected. "No matter what I did, what I said, where I went, I was never comfortable with the shell I carried called myself."

420 was the California penal code for cannabis possession
Now used as a slang term for the drug. Celebrated on 20th April
American schools kick out a lot earlier than 4:20pm |

It's legal in the USA in some states. would you people that don't agree with it judge the people using it legally over there? Would you still not meet those that use it there?
It's like smokers, I think people who smoke aren't making the healthier choices, but I't doesn't make them a dick or stupid.

We don’t disagree with people using it, or anything it’s there choice.
We just don’t like the smell of it, and like said if it was going to be part of a meet using it it wouldn’t be for us.
If however the meeting person had used it, or openly used it that’s there choice. |

Intellect and stupidity aren’t the same thing in my view. Some very clever people do some very silly things at times.
I was brought up to be fearful of illegal drugs. Dope; seen as the first rung on the ladder to much stronger stuff.
I was always told it was stupid to even try drugs and so I’ve avoided them and the people who take them.
I can’t abide smoking and with an alcoholic father, I’m mindful of alcohol intake too.

That's it for me, I wouldn't be interested in joining someone from here to use a drug, it's completely removed from the reasons why I joined this site. If I thought they'd have to be stoned to me me ... oh wait.
But, each to their own, if thats what they're into. |

Drugs don't belong in swinging
Says the man who drinks and smokes...Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't alcohol and nicotine drugs?"
I maybe wrong but I think they’re still legal. |

They are still drugs though and he never stipulated which drugs have no place in Fab. I've never seen people get as messed up smoking pot as some people do when drinking...I know who we'd rather meet. |

I like a toke and have had some great meets with other tokers.
I wouldn't see it as a good indicator of character either way though. It's just like anything else, you get both idiots and gems from all backgrounds x |
