So let’s say you loaned some things to someone and they cost £xx,xxx,xx amount and yes that is 5 figures. You can go and retrieve your items but possibly have police action against you or wait and wait for courts to pull there fingers out of there ass. What would you do. And yes I have contacted the police and they just class it as a civil matter but if I retrieve the items myself I will be charged with theft |

Do you have proof that these items are yours?
Any proof you lent them to the person rather than giving?
If so then the safest course of action would be speaking to them advising that legal action will be taken.
Civil action is the best way to sort this as you could end up with a criminal record if you take the items back without consent especially if you have to enter someone's property to take them. |

If the items belong to you (and only you) then retrieving them in no way mets the definition of theft (the intention of depriving owner of their property).
If it’s a civil matter the police will also not get involved unless a disturbance occurs |
