I’m under two blankets and a duvet thinking I should have got it. Whatever this strain is it’s a weird one. One minute feel semi normal the next I’m terrible.
Never been convinced by the jab myself. |

A lot of people think they have flu when they actually have a heavy cold. So some will moan they got it when it wasn’t flu at all.
The flu jab does work for one strain but not for the other one that’s prevaient now. So it’s not pointless. |

This year’s vaccine completely missed the strain they needed to vaccinate against. Had mine done, and was still wiped out over Christmas. The aches were really bad, especially my shoulders and knees. Never had it this bad. Hope that’s my lot of germs this winter!! |

I had flu jab at end of 2016. March 2017 I got flu and it put me in bed for a whole week, I was totally unable to even walk down the stairs! It took 8 weeks to completely get rid of the germ, so I didn’t have the jab last year. Pointless!
Maybe others have been fine but my experience wasn’t. |

I had flu for the first time in Feb/March last year, off work a month, in bed for 3 of those weeks. Had the flu jab in November, now got a cold which I hardly ever get, but touch wood not got flu.
Some nasty bugs going round!
Perhaps they need those public health announcements on tv again like they did in the olden days!

I had the flu jab this year for the first time, never again!
I had a bad reaction to it and ended up calling 111 who sent paramedics. Fortunately, after some treatment from them, I was fine but I’ll never risk having it again |

The last time I had the flu jab 2013/4? I was ill for almost 6 months afterwards!
NEVER will I have another one, and always decline when surgery call and ask if i would like one.

Flu epidemics used to kill millions
Thankfully we have protection but different strains come and go
The latest one is the aussie flu very similar to swine flu
Drink lots
Take medication
Rest and keep under your duvet

The jab is not a guarantee that you will not get something. It's more like an insurance against you getting the most likely strains, as predicted by global evidence and experts.
Put simply, for €9, you can get a much greater chance of staying free of flu, if you need to pay for it.
As the levels of the population who have had the jab increases, herd immunity also starts to help protect others. It's feasible that the infection could not be transmitted very far, if almost everyone had the jab.
People may die from it, so I'd rather not be the person who could have passed it on. |

Yes, my mother was a nurse and I always remembered her saying, if you have flu, you literally cannot lift your head off the pillow. |

I don't think I've ever had the flu, my Doctor told me that lots of people go through their whole life without getting actual Flu so I think it's often mistaken for a heavy cold.
But the vaccination can only protect against the strains it was designed for so it's not foolproof.
I always think it's funny when you see on social media complaining of flu and migraines, I'd say that's proof to say you don't have either.
