Well that was interesting...There was pack ice running down the streets in some places in the North East while in Florida iguanas are falling out of the trees ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

I was talking to an American colleague yesterday and she was saying ‘oh it’s -4 here and the schools are closed’. As if it was an inconvenience.
Of course they work in Fahrenheit so I did a quick conversion and that’s -20 in Celsius
The UK would be at a standstill with that ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

"I feel sorry for them! However some of them believe the Government are doing it with weather modification????
Really? Do people actually believe that?" .
I think we've modified the climate a tad and that modifies the weather.... Or to put it another way the Arctic high known as the polar vortex has been warmed alot from climate change, the severe cold instead of being kept stuck in the Arctic is now lobeing somewhat, the jet stream is meandering considerably and this means the cold is pouring south while warm air is pouring North.
In a nut shell... Not good |

It's getting worse...200 year floods in France only just 8 months after a 300 year flood.
Rain and mud slides in California while the Hudson needs an ice breaker and the sea on the east coast is frozen over for miles and miles.
Meanwhile the Arctic winter sea ice is at an near all time lows!
This isn't the end, it isn't even the beginning of the end, it is perhaps the end of the beginning.... Welcome to the new norm ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

"I'm just glad it's not ultra cold and snowy here. " .
9ft of snow traps thousands of skiers in Switzerland!.
Avalanche risk at it's highest level in France Italy Austria and Switzerland.
Even counties prepared for snow have their infrastructure wrecked and tested.
