Long story short - hurrendous Christmas.
Next December I'm looking at going skiing around 22nd of December for 11 days etc however having a mare trying to find anywhere! Thinking if book today I can pay off through the year.
Tried crystal and all sorts! It's the 1 person supplement I think!
However any reccomendations would be great! Apart from Banksco, I'm not skiing with Jeremy Kyle attendees |

"We book ours independently and it works out much cheaper. Fly to Munich on BA £100 return, hire a car, rent an apartment. Much less than we've found packages for."
Hey not thought of that?!?! I'm gonna try that way! What a good idea thanks! |

The down side of that is not in a chalet to mix with others |

Ski pass you just buy in resort. Skis rent online beforehand at a handy ski shop for you. |

That's true
Apartment works for us as a family. Singles might be better in different accomodation, but hotel rooms in bustling reports still give good apres ski. |

"Is thar sutch a thing as a cotch trip ski holiday ?
As its sumthing I've wanted to do "
There's organised ski bus trips, but seem to be mostly schools and colleges. There is a Ski Bus runs from Victora ( ? ) coach station, but don't think it is mega cheap. |

I always book independently and have done so for the last 15 years or so and save money over the packages.
Having the choice of flights and car hire means you get to choose you times of travel.
Rather than being bused round every hotel before the tour company drops you off
Booking.com for your hotel
Most hotels in the resorts have deals for lift passes and kit hire... Email them mist I have found at really helpful.
Also the resorts now have websites where you can book transfers, hotels, lift passes, lessons, and hire...
The internet makes it so easy.. The only hard bit is deciding where to go...

For a cheaper location I suggest Andorra. Can fly into Barcelona or Toulouse and the Apres Ski is ALOT cheaper. Pas De La Casa for apres ski, Soldeu for easier access to the Pistes (can get access from Pas but if low cloud it's difficult to get across and have to be conforrable in white out conditions).
For best skiing and variety any of the resorts in the 3 valleys,Val Thoren is a favourite of mine. |

Look in Austria around Scheffau in the Wilder Kaiser resort, may be a bit hit and miss with snow in the early part of the season.
Alternatively Kaprun has the nearby glacier at Zell am see and is much higher.
Either way, fly to Munich or Salzburg and drive. |

"Also watch out for the hire companies trying to sting you for winter tyres, refuse to pay it and insist they put the normal tyres back on, they will eventually back down.
"
That depends where you go of course, as most of Europe insists on winter tyres (not "all year" tyres) and tbh, while I understand why in Britain people do not bother because of the cost involved, however, I do change to proper winter tyres each November and back to summer tyres in March/ April... I have never got stuck anywhere but drove past plenty who did. |

Think he means they won't swap the tyres because they can't / won't. You can still get great price car hire that gives you the flexibilty to fly into somewhere slightly cheaper. |

Good advice wherever anybody is choosing, is how snow safe it is for the time of year.. When we first went we were lucky to be at a glacier resort and others were back to grass. We've been high altitude or glacier since then. |
