Last year I needed an extension on my plane seat belt. I've just been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and my daughter and grandchildren have moved to hilly Wales.

My goals are therefore to be fit and healthy and drop 60kg by the time I next travel in October.

Lose a stone and a half and generally improve my overall fitness. I'm starting by going Dry this month and easing myself into running.

After a few years out of training I got back into it last year and completed a few sprint triathlons and a few local club 10 mile time trials.

So targets for 2018 are:

Moving up to Olympic triathlons.

Beat both my brothers in our family triathlon league... lol

Increase my cycling FTP to a reasonable level.

Try and beat my time trials PB's.

Get my Parkrun PB down to a reasonable time.

Simple hey... now all I've got to do is put the time and effort in... lol

Hiding in the shadows

I started smoking again last Jan, as a result my cardio levels really suffered.

I've now been 3days off to fags, so my fitness aims for this year are,

To survive teaching my Insanity classes without gasping for breath.

Cycle more,I've dropped from 200 miles a week to under 50, again breathing/smoking related.

Hit the magic 140kg Deadlift again
