I love his intelligence, could listen to him talk for hours and hours.
His documentary series on language looks fascinating.
I thought of this when it was mentioned its hard to describe the love of a child.. and i agree. But there must be some amazing words in our language that could partially describe this..
Its pretty tough i think to describe love, but id like to read how people go about it. |

he is an amazingly interesting guy
i would love to spend some time in his company, i could never converse with him on his level but yet i do not feel for one second he would judge me harshly for it |

He has been called on recent programmes and chat shows, "A National Treasure!"
How apt, for a gentleman with such a broad vocabulary, and educational prowess, who can ease the way he imparts knowledge to the masses, often with such great humour too. |

that is what i love about him
so many well educated people look right down their noses at you if your not of degree level like they are sadly but yet he does not do that even one jot he just loves sharing his knowledge but is such an all encompassing manner he has such a lovely way to him |

"My admiration for Sir Steven knows very few bounds.... Oh to have him respond to the spelling, grammar and users of text speak police on here..;-)"
Now, don't get us started on that all over again.... though you are right, and from my perspective, as a trained proofreader, I cringe at what I see in print every day on many sites. |

He went to school 6 miles from me at uppingham and was expelled!!!!!!!!.
For all his talents the best for me is programmes on the understanding of bi-polar. Although his bi polar has been in episodes rather than an ongoing thing i think he helped greatly with the stigma attatched to it |

My point precisely...;-);-)
His attitude towards the development of our (amongst other) languages, from one of the greatest exponents, is legendary...;-);-)
There is a time and place for all... And change is development, not bastardisation....;-);-);-) |

We recently tried to book him to do a personal appearance at work (to open a new NHS building supporting people with mental health problems)....
I won't ask you to guess what his personal appearance fee is as i need to go to bed and that could make it a long night so i'll just tell you...
£20,000 to have him come and open our new building.... needless to say we politely declined and decided to keep an extra nurse in work for a whole year!

I would object to an NHS facility paying anyone a penny to open a building, and anyway why would it have any connection to staff budgets? |

We were hoping he was going to do it for 'charity'..... but his charity costs £20k so we said thanks but no thanks and kept our dollar in our pocket! |

but public appearences are how he earns his money - why would he do that for free???
He does a lot for charity and i guess he has to draw a line somewhere. why when someone is famous do they have to do everything for charity? |

Just do a google with 'Stephen fry' and 'women' in the search box.
'Stephen Fry says he feels sorry for straight men because women only want sex in order to have a relationship.
The gay broadcaster and writer, speaking to Attitude magazine, said that women want commitment and if they wanted sex as much as men, there would be straight cruising areas.
He said: “I think most straight men feel they disgust women. They find it difficult to believe that women are as interested in sex as they are. For good reason. If women liked sex as much as men there would be straight cruising areas in the way there are gay cruising areas.
“I feel sorry for straight men. The only reason women will have sex with them is that sex is the price they are willing to pay for a relationship with a man, which is what they want. They want a boyfriend and then they want commitment.
“Of course a lot of women will deny this and say, ‘Oh, no, but I love sex, I love it!’ But do they go around having it the way that gay men do?
“Gay men are the perfect acid test. If they want to get their rocks off, they go into a park where they know they can do it.”
He deleted the blog post and twitter not long after this inter_iew but I think it speaks for itself. |

I think some people take the ramblings of complete strangers, all be it famous strangers, far too much to heart....
It's not as if it's a personal attack on any individual, let alone someone on an obscure swingers website. |

Agree with you. I don't see how this remotely suggests he hates women, lets be honest, there are women who to some degree use sex in the way he suggests. NSA sex is completely unnaceptable to some people. |

and lets face it some of us women are worse than gay guys for cruising for NSA |
