Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi everyone
It's just a couple of days until the official launch of the Fab Crap Runners' Club. I'll post a thread called Fab Crap Runners' Club Week One on 1st Jan.
If you're unsure what it's all about, the old thread explains (linked to below) but, in short, from 1st January, we're all going work through the Couch to 5k which is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (I'm using Get Running). We're all expecting to be utterly crap at it but we're doing it anyway - yay us!
Old thread: https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/711745
New members are still very welcome - post on this thread and I'll add you to the list.

"This sounds fun, not sure it will be, I couldn't run for a bus, but I'll download the app and walk the dog, if I run I'd collapse and get black eyes "
That’s fine. A couple of people are doing fast-walking when the app says run. It’s all good exercise. |

I (the misses) is determined to loose some weight and tone up in 2018.
Would love to join this running thread and used to love running as a teenager, but tried to run with my daughter earlier this year and gave up, to quick.
So I will join for motivation, but have taken to cycling rather than running, so will use your you can do this thread and cycle more next year x |

To give you some encouragement and because like a good sergeant I wouldn’t send you into battle unless I was prepared to go in myself, I’ve done my first run.
Yes, it’s possible. Yes it’s quite difficult but I did the run when the app told me to run and walked when it told me to walk. I didn’t stop to throw up no matter how much I wanted to.
If you’ve got worries about work or home life they are completely gone, you only think about doing the run so a break from your troubles is a nice thing.
I’m as unfit as anyone (really, yes even you) so if I can do it, you can too. |

Nit even started yet and injured myself more than I was before!
Got cocky at a party last night and tried kicking a balloon while wearing killer heels.... Fell over and been hobbling round all day!
Been googling to see if you can still walk on a broken foot!
I'll catch you up as soon as my foot heels! |

Yeah, I was a bit nervous about how I’d feel on January 1st so I thought I’d get the first one done just to see that it’s possible.
I haven’t died yet and it’s been about 4 hours now, if I can do it then any of you can. |

Have pm'd ya but am in and will catch up from mid january.
I regularly run to my butchers before the ladies leave at 1pm to have a flirt.
I was thinking more about parkrun to network socialise and flirt and to impress the fit girl on the train who does it (she is currently recovering from injury so my only chance to beat her lol) |

I was debating starting again, so I'll join in. Haven't run really since I left the army.
I worked my route out yesterday which was 2.6miles so rather than work up to 5k, my aim will be to get around that bitch without stopping. |

I started this three years ago. It took me 2.5 years till I ran my first (and only) marathon.
Please include me so I can cheer you all on. Couch to 5k is a fantastic way to get into running and get fit. It isn’t easy, I hurt after every run, but it’s worth it. |

Not too painful but long way to go
Using BBC couch to 5k, Michael Johnson is my trainer lol
Nice one. You’re doing really well! "
Can I choose Gemma Atkinson from Strictly/Emmerdale as my running coach? No idea whether she can run, but she would definitely motivate me! |
