Okay its no secret that I am in a BDSM relationship but people keep asking me about what pvc wear I have etc etc.. and assuming I spend half my life dressed in that way..
Now not only do I not spend half my life dressed that way.. I actually would not be able to face a room full of people dressed up in fetish gear ( kinda why we dont frequent fetish clubs) Not that I would think anything wrong.. its just one of those things that gives me the instant giggles.
So my question is this... How did that sort of wear get associated with fetish and bdsm....
I know if Master ever dressed up like some seem to think is stereotypical that I would be laughing to much to be of any use...
Btw.. no offence is meant I am genuinely curious as to what it is about that sort of wear.. as to me there is nothing dominant to someone all dressed up like that....

Don't have the answer to your question but having been around a few BDSM clubs in my time, I cannot keep a straight face when the "Master" is wearing leather jeans, gut hanging over the belt and a leather waistcoat.......
In fact, most men dressed for BDSM look a little silly, especially in chaps! Obviously these same rules don't apply to ladies as they all look lovely particularly in latex, thigh boots and a crop (but that might just be me)! |

but why pvc.. its the most unflattering thing apart from lycra lol
I thought the idea was to look sexy.. Saying that a friend of mine is made to wear her pvc wear as a humiliation... knowing people are looking at her.. she is a big lady.. I would find that horrendous personally..
but just was curious as to how it got associated within fetish stuff.. Maybe it helps people get into the right mind set.. perhaps that is why I dont understand it as I am always Masters slave..

Fetishwear doesn't have to be an indication of whether someone is Sub/Dom/Neither....
Many people attend Fetish parties in outfits that are personally pleasurable to them and often a fetish in themselves, ie. Latex/Leather/PVC.
It does not have to be connected to an interest in domination or submission....and many people I know who attend the same fetish parties as I do don't hold such interests, some do of course, but many don't. |

I was not saying that it was an indication of m/s realtionship.. just that what makes people associate it with bdsm...
Often on chat people are shocked that I dont own any leather or pvc..( well actually I have bike leathers but thats different)
and I just wondered how it became associated...
I struggle on the fetish sites at times with giggles because a man will send me a message saying he wishes to be considered for whatever... and his photos have him in tight leathers.. I will actually be honest and tell him that nothing looks less dominant to me than that look.. and if he adds a mask.. then thats it.. Master has to answer for me as I am incapable..
but I do realise that some enjoy dressing like that and actually in that form it doesnt faze me at all.. Bizarre I know.. for me its only funny when someone trying to be dominant is wearing it..
I am looking as to why people assume that as a slave I must spend my life in pvc or leather. where the connection came from.

Maybe its all tied in with uniforms. Some fetish gear, even though its PVC and obviously fashion extras added, have a uniform, guards, soldier, kind of feel to them.
Some, like the mask thing, leather apron, leather gloves etc, is based on the executioners of old, and if your holding an axe and someone is knelt at your feet waiting for their head to be cut off, then its a bit of a dominance thing isn't it |

You will find different people will come up with different answers to this but i will try and sum up in brief.
You will find many items are loosely based on the leather coats that was worn by the Gestapo and other millitaria in the past. There was an association with fear and pain inflicted so when the BDSM scene started to flourish leather was an obvious choice but was expensive to get bespoke items made. When Polyvinyl chloride was invented it was a cost effective alternative and was adopted by many in the scene. There are many people who need props to set the scene. With some its the wearing of fetish clothing. With others like yourself its the need to refer to your playmate openly as master. We all have our triggers and if it works it works. Anyway i hope this goes some way to explaining how pvc became associated with BDSM. |

i have to agree, i find leather kilts the most unmasculine thing ever, and cant see one without giggling.
I think darkthoughts speaks well on some of the origins, but there are also those who get off on the feel of latex and pvc. |
