So this year for the first time, I am all alone on Xmas day as all of my family have travelled back to Ozzie for a Xmas holiday.
Because of my job, I wasn't allowed to take any leave during the Xmas period (a stupid rule which makes no sense) and therefore am in London on my own!
Anyone else around here spending Xmas on their own? |

Nothing to see here. Please move along. |
I choose to spend Christmas day alone. My Christmas grumpyness makes the grinch and scrooge seem like happy little elves.
I refuse to cook a big dinner. I give my grown children exactly the same every year and refuse to have decorations or a tree.
I do like Christmas pudding but buy it in January as it is cheaper then and I can enjoy it as and when I choose.
Bah humbug |

I’ll be on my tod after my kids do to their Dads at 11. I’m cooking a lamb roast tomorrow as our Christmas meal, so having bubble and squeak on Christmas Day or perhaps a mountain of cheese. |

Hope no one is too sad to be on their own tomorrow. Try to enjoy your day and don’t feel down. I feel the same about NYE and tend to go to bed early so it’s over quicker. Not quite the same but all the best to all of you xx |

I'll have a small person for a few hours but the majority will be spent alone, did it a couple of years ago and throughly enjoyed it. Made myself a forerib of beef with all the trimmings and several extreamly nice bottles of wine.
I've gone with a stuffed rolled pork loin this year. |

Will be a lamb roast for me too. Haven't had one in ages, so really looking forward to it. Much nicer than Turkey in my opinion. |

"I'm alone and working all over Xmas. Do I mind? Not at all as some of my work colleagues have young children and should be with them over Xmas. "
Yeah I tend to do that too. Feels like the right thing to do, plus I'd rather take the time off when the weather's better. |

I'm alone by choice really, worked today back in boxing day. I can't be bothered to spend most of either tonight and tomorrow night in a car and not being able to have a drink getting to the parents. Luckily I love to cook and don't mind doing the full meal for just myself. |

Yeah I offered to cover today and boxing day so others could enjoy it with young families. |

Well it has been that long since I spent Christmas Day with anyone I think I have just tipped the balance that in 45 years I have now spent more Christmas's alone than with someone...and I have three grown up daughters and even a contact order to see them didn't address the imbalance/injustice. I really don't know what to say when someone disingenuously wishes me Merry Christmas because I know there is nothing merry about it...and they'd walk past me without so much as a hello the other 364 days of the year. Every year I dread it, the lead up and the day itself. I'm more of a survivor of Christmas than a celebrator of it now. |

Embrace it! A day off from all obligations. Decorations ups, cook what you want, and when. Watch all the TV you want, not others choices. Stress free. No fights, no tears cause dinner's late, food poisoning.
10 years by choice on my own xmas day, I buy myself presents through the year, wrap them, forget about them, so all a nice surprise!
Worry about waistband next year! |
