I get a taxi at least twice a week. There's been a steady creeping up of the amount of drivers who have the radio on throughout the journey.
Sometimes they have the footy match on. I HATE that.
I just want to ride in peace and quiet.
I've never asked anyone to turn the radio off yet but im getting close to it.
what's your take on it.
What exactly have I hired ? |

Not to do taxi drivers a disserve here...but they`ve changed..
I remember when they would hop out and open a door for you...help load yer luggage..not the de riguer these days it seems..
The last one I had was a curmudgeon...not that it bothered me...I was gazing out of the window...musing..
I can only remember one taxi driver of note...I flew into Glasgow...he sussed my W/ Country accent and gave me a warm welcome to Scotland..we had a great natter on geology...ha...
He was a great host...wouldn`t take the fare for a half hour journey...jolly good chap %*
Just one of those memorable journeys, where you click with a total stranger..
But I digress... |

That is not strictly true...the driver may well own the vehicle, be it a Hackney carriage (Black Cab) or a private hire vehicle it is governed by a set of licensing rules set down by the local council. These licensing rules generally date back to the beginning of time! When I was a Private Hire vehicle driver the playing of the radio was not permitted without the express permission of the passengers, and the passengers had the right to ask for it to be turned off. If the driver did not comply the passenger had every right to report him or her to the licensing authority. A quick call to your local council licensing office will confirm the current ruling on he matter... |

What ? If you want entertaining don't charge a fee for the ride! Bloody cheek.
Be nice to your customers and they might give you more business.
Cheek of the man! Bend over Bunk ! |

Know what. I'll take your advice and walk or use the bus xxx
Nothing to do with customers as you say. They should be grateful to be allowed to sit on the seats. Cheeky fuckers. |
