Not very festive I know but I've just finished watching this and since it's taken a bit of a beating from critics I wasn't expecting much but I thought it was prety good, decent enough plot and some good known actors too.
Anyone else seen it? What did you think? |

Yes I watched it yesterday. It wasn’t what I was expecting and was a bit long but I enjoyed it. I don’t not know if there was any intro at the beginning as I was doing something else at the same time as I started it but I was a tad confused at first about who was who and what eg inferni. A good cast and I liked the humour between the two main characters. Left it open for a sequel too. Definitely worth watching |

Haven't watched it yet. Some of the reviews were terrible. Wanted it to do well, as previously an aspiring filmmaker/writer, the Netflix model seems a lot more accessible than old Hollywood and they give their talents a lot of creative freedom.
I'll watch it and make my own mind up. |

watched it today...good concept utterly awful directing and script.
the story essentially went nowhere(maybe the idea is for a series or tv series)
the cop and different partner cop genre is a bit of a tired genre |

There wasn't an intro as such but there was a bit of imagery as it started which gave a bit of info as to set the foundation the film |

I never listen to critics reviews, I always make my own mind up, some of my favourite films have been panned by critics |

Me neither, I try to avoid reviews, and even trailers for films I already know I'm going to watch and just give them a go with fresh unbiased eyes. |

Netflix financed it, beating Warner's and another studio to the rights. |

"It's like the old 'come in for coffee' after a date. No one ever drank coffee.
Was it tea
No, it was always hot chocolate with little marsh mellows. "
So if I say Netflix and chill when I’m home alone having a night in is that code for wanking? Probably true actually... |

Ok, but that doesn't answer the question really. If it's a big budget big screen move which it appears, then why essentially give it to everyone who's already subscribed to Netflix?
From the trailer I was ready to get £15 out for a ticket.
Meh, matters not. I know what I'm doing this evening now |

I actually didn’t know that. Must be more innocent than I thought |

That's what they do, they generate their own programming. That's like saying why do their Netflix exclusive TV shows appears on Netflix, why don't they sell them to existing networks, that's their business model, create programming for their subscribers. Thats how they distribute their products. Now they're moving more into films with this and with the Adam Sandler deal, you should see more bigger budget films appearing on their first.
They'll probably release them for disc sales later, like they do with house of cards, better call Saul etc.

I only heard recently. It sparked a whole conversation with my teenager. I thought it meant “hey come round, let’s watch Netflix and relax”

Watched it with high expectations but fell a little short for me, was lacking something, plot was good, reminded me of the Alien Nation movie from back in the 80s. |

Thought it was great.
Real indy movie vibe. Instantly identifiable setting. Interesting concepts. Nice undertones. Decent action.
Training Day meets Lord of The Rings.
A sequel has been confirmed |

"I liked it but it was a bit too sweary...I can swear like a sailor but at some points I started to wonder if the writer had tourettes "
Yes, exactly this. I'm sure a brow raised when I said much the same.
