Some profiles are soooooooooooo long on here, they make my eyes hurt.

Surely they can be shorter?

whats too long ..is mine too long ? ..

i think an entertaining and informative profile is far better than one that says "fun guy lookin 4 fun" or " will fill in later".. then 10 lines of Sidney university..

After being on and off here for a few years, I’ve realised it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference what you write on your profile, or how long or short it is.

They're long to put people off that don't like long profiles. Think of it as a filter so you don't waste time reading it or mailing them.

Too long is when it goes on about all the negative stuff and hoop jumping they want, then as was said earlier countless wasted lines about sydney uni which was probably nothing to do with this site in the first place.

They're better than short profiles that say the same few lines of shit that can be read on a 1000 other profiles

They can be if they reel off more of what they don't want rather than what they do.

Putting what you don’t want should stop people messaging asking if you like such and such.

Though I used to have that I didn’t like hotel meets on before but I still got messages saying they were in a hotel

Well all of the copyright Sydney University stuff is waste of time unless you intend to spend thousands in court. Anyways you can turn of having your profile indexed by Google in privacy settings. I get annoyed because people expect to meet me but do not have a single face pic. What is it, Blind Date?

Mine's longer than the average, but it sets out what I want people to know before anything further might happen. As long as it's generally phrased in a positive way, I don't see anything wrong with that. Much better, in my view, than the "horny looking for NSA" ones.

Agree with the filter comments above re: people who haven't got the will/patience to read more than a couple of sentences.

Yes, a lot of people could trim the Sydney Uni rubbish off. That would help!

I like medium sized ones myself, if they are too long I skim a bit but if it's someone I am interested in meeting I will read it in its entirety. I don't like short ones or non existent ones as you then have to probe the member to get them to reveal their sexual desires XXX

They say what the writer wants them to and much of it is frustration as people dont read what they are looking for.

If not for you, move on to the next.

Long (ish) profile? Guilty as charged!

It tells people our likes and dislikes, a little bit about us both etc. That said, it still doesn’t stop messages from people whom we don’t meet. Those messages are deleted unread so it’s no big deal to us. If you can’t be bothered reading our profile we can’t be bothered reading your message. Touché

The content is obviously at the discretion of the profile owner, it’s irrespective whether It contain 1 sentence, or several chapters. As long as the author is satisfied with the text. As the reader, you choice is to read or not to read, usually that depends on whether you’d like to get to know that person.

There’s been so many threads of this nature, really, does it actually matter?

We don't mind a long one if it's interesting to read and light hearted.

An essay of demands, bitching and general negativity is a turn off.

I don't think there's enough space to write a profile that I'd consider long.

Lengthy is fine, concise is fine, dull is not.
